Yup, good show on Top Gear
Robin I agree and have to agree with JC's assesment. But for £50k less the GT3RS is remarkable value !!!!
As the man said ... "THIS CAR IS PERFECT" !!! I gotta get me one 'o those .... Still hasn't changed my view of the programme though.
But they didn't mention what i believe is the key point... its too loud for most trackdays! (please correct me if im wrong about that... but thats what i've heard). the Stradale is a track car... but can't be used on standard trackdays. It's more of a hardcore road car in my opinion. Btw... i ADORE the Stradale. I really love it. Just surprised TopGear missed that piece of info.
You can put those rubber muffler thingies on the end of the exhaust pipes to quieten it down for trackdays. BTW do the CS owners on here track their cars? How does it do? Good show. To be honest if i had £140k to spend on cars I'd get the GT3RS for track and a 355 for the road...
Great show indeed!!! For the last 10 minutes They went around in the same time but the Porsche seemed to be easier to be driven near the limit! I loved Jeremy's commentary, couldn't have said it better! If you put the money aside, the 360 CS is the car to have really! He only mentioned ones the 'flappy paddle gearbox' and he didn't hate it this time "It's good for the track!" It sure is! Looking forward to next week....the Carrera GT!!! CIAO... Guy
One of the real differences is the behaviour of the CS on the road. It is not uncomfortable, too hard, too noisy or difficult to drive in any way whatsoever. At 140k it is both a track car and a road car, somthing JC commented that the Porsche is not. It's not the GT3RS and a 355 as my road car, it's a 360CS AND a 360CS as my road car!!!
Robin, Thats good to hear. A good friend of mine with an RS says that any time driving for more than an hour on the road makes him want to stop. Booming interior noise, harsh conditions. I think as a all-round hooning car the £50k extra on the Ferrari is well spent. If its JUST for track use then the £50k premium is less justifiable. I certainly envy you and Kevin... but i'm only 20 so got a few years to catch up!
I think most people who buy a CS will use it on both road and track whereas the porker will be more of an expensive track car. Personally I am not a great lover of 911's (or any Porsches for that matter). I think the GT3RS's decals look really cheap and nasty whereas the fezza just oozes style. The extra £50k is worth it for the soundtrack alone IMHO.
The Stradale is in no way innaporpriate for road use . Its in fact very comfy , has everything u need and the noise is not a problem at all. Esp under 4000 RPM.
Its a good idea, and definately one to consider. The down side it 2x costs on everything ... imagine the insurance...
Pretty good piece wasn't it? Have to confess I was sweating a bit when they were announcing the track times for the two, though I do wonder how they managed to post exactly the same time.
Hi Kev, I found that piece of political manoeuvering quite special too *S* oh, and for those who think the RS is no good on the road, read my 'review' in the Top Gear thread. I went all the way to Stuttgart and back in one in a couple of days last month. Wasn't at all uncomfortable or loud in my opinion. But then I'm used to a lil blue rocket ship Ben. (Ferrari for me still though)
That'll be the deadly sin of lust. Suggest you start with a 1/18 model on the sideboard and work like the clappers for the next 3 years.
You're suggestion is sound. The only thing that worries me is that I am working like the clappers NOW and I ain't got one ... scary !
Figure this : The RS is heavier (I believe), has less power, has no driver aids ie. traction control, costs £50k less and has one of those old fashioned manual type gearboxes as opposed to the flappy Ferrari one and still manages the same lap time. Must be one hellava motor car. If Porsche were to release it in conventional colours othere than white and without the decals it might actually be an even bigger seller. J
I saw that the driver lifted/got on the wrong line slightly in the 360 at one point, but his 911 lap looked better. I reckon that he could have found a few more 10ths out of the CS... Wonder what sort of time a Murcielago SV will put in, when they build one?
