hey guys, any good, quality movies that you have watched and would recommend to others? Just the other day, i watched man on fire. it was pretty good, i've gotta say. Older movies are fine too. Just list your favourite movies!
If you like gangster movies look into renting a movie called "Brother." Its about a Yakuza who smuggles himself into to America instead of being killed after his family loses a war. Needless to say, he starts up his own crime "family" in LA and goes back to war. A good car/action movie is "The Transporter". Very good driving scene with a BMW 7. Indiana Jones is always damn good fun. Ronin for more car driving fun.
No no, they're all very horrible movies that are at best B-movies, but they should never of been made.
Eos is kidding, though he needs to make a spelling correction - "should've never" or "never should've," as "should never've," though a shortened form of "should never have" is even goofier than "should never of." BUT (Everybody I know has a big BUT), he's right about Transporter. Daaaaaayyyyyummmmm good chase scenes. Watched To Live and Die in L.A. last night just to see the chase. Crikey!

Miller's Crossing (1990). One of my personal favorites. The scene at Miller's Crossing (on the box cover) is as gripping as cinema can get. You can just smell the musty leaves and the chill in the air. You feel sympathy for both characters. Salvador (1986). This movie was also directed by Stone in '86, and was he was also nominated for an Oscar for direction along with Platoon. James Woods was robbed for the Oscar by Paul Newman. Eye of God (1997). Ever seen this movie? Neither has anyone else I've met. I rented this a couple of years ago, and still remember it well. It doesn't move fast, have special effects or car chases, but it is a story that will keep you interested nonetheless. Schindler's List (1993). Not my favorite movie of all time, but probably the best movie I've ever seen. Anyone that can watch this movie and not be moved is either heartless or too immature to understand. Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson were also completely robbed for the Oscar. Fiennes in particular was beaten by the no-talent Tommy Lee Jones. Fiennes' portrayal of Amon Goeth was the best single performance I've ever seen. Guys like Tommy Lee Jones and Tom Cruise aren't untalented, they are just strong presences and who they are. They have to be inserted ito the right roles - they are not chameleons or actors capable of "fine shading."

Sounds like Troy is a Stinker. I figured it would be; it'll be a good renter. Other good recent viewings: Master and Commander: A-, very good. The Last Samurai: Solid B, real sense of history.

yeah, troy was not that great. But I especially liked the scene when achilles killed hektor. Amazing action! 'the pianist' was pretty good too as was 'powder', and 'whats eating gilbert grape', and 'marvin's room', and many more. more movies: green mile gone in 60 seconds ...

Starship Troopers... hah Also, check out Hero. It is Jet Li (I think), and only in subtitles at the moment (downloaded it, actually) but should be coming out in America soon. The preview during Kill Bill Vol.2 made it look like your typical 1 man vs 3000 soldiers but it is not like that at all really. It isn't realistic in the sense of their moves and such, but it is a really great movie with a fantastic story - check it out if you are into that sort of thing.
Hot shots (1 and 2) ... hilarious. Shrek ... hilarious and somewhat sophisticated. Very cool. Full Metal Jacket ... brings respect to men in the military. The Last Samurai ... for some reason, it's very good. The Butterfly Effect (although I wished it was 5 mins shorter) ... pretty cool. Lord of the Rings series (but you have to read the books to understand properly ... and that makes you realize how simpler the movie is, thus making it not as good ... if that made sense). American Pie series is always hilarious (#3 is goin' down a bit though) Schindler's List ... really moving flick. La Vita è Bella (with Roberto Benigni ... really good flick) ... must sound like "Life is Beautiful" or something like that in the US... Any Jackie Chan movie is always funny. Transporter. Entertaining, but that's about it. Ronin, I want an S8. The Usual Suspects. Great movie, but once you've seen and understood it, it's boring. The Million Dollar Hotel ... rented it, didn't even watch the whole thing. So boring. Fast and the Furious (1 and 2)... goin' furiously fast to the trash. And a bunch of other lame movies I forgot about...
