I contacted them a couple months ago as overall everyone on here seemed to recommend them more than anyone else. I also think it speaks well for them that they're the official transport for FNA.

The first quote I got back was $3,000 round trip from Dallas to Monterey. They said there was no problem waiting awhile longer to make plans and reserve the space as they can schedule even just a few weeks ahead of time. Now that I finalized my Monterey plans, I wanted to get the transport all set.

I've since found out they're already taking trucks out from Dallas to Monterey for the FNA Rally. So there's a truck already scheduled for very similar times. I've also heard of past round trip quotes for other Ferraris only being about $2,500 round trip at the most.

So I filled out the request for quote again this week and I get back a number of $3,700 round trip! What is going on? Even after I emailed back stating I had received an earlier quote and I knew they already had a truck scheduled for my origination and destination they made it sound like the driver would be "stuck" in Monterey just for me!

I know others have used Horseless Carriage and actually know the owner. Please give me suggestions for someone else to use or just confirm that $3,700 is the going rate. I know that can't be right!

    Thanks,
    rob

Seems like most of your correspondance has been via email. Might make sense to pick up the phone to discuss with somebody who might be a little more responsive -- especially if you've got an earlier quote in hand, and your departure/arrival details haven't changed. From the outside looking in, seems to be a case of lots of demand for which premium pricing can be charged. That being said, if they don't budge on price, I would certainly shop around, as Intercity Lines (who I used), and others do a fantastic job as well.

Rob Check the price of fuel at the pump. I know deisel is still a bargain comapred to premium unleaded but it has still risen along with the unleaded they are off setting their increased cost of doing business

    How about this?

On a more helpful note, I got a quote from Intercity from MA to FL for the Cavalino for 2K and its about the same distance. 3.7K sounds v expensive.

Try Councours trucking. I used them to get the 360 to Oregon. Mike let us ride up with him, very courteous, and they were quite a bit under the other bids.

Shouldn't be, they're transporting some local cars up for the FNA Rally that ends in Monterey and then back again.

I have no experience with Car Transports (closed or open),
I ship Fruits and Veg. on Refers, (Exempt Commodity, not
Regulated), and the rate has been $ 1.30-1.35 per mile for
a long time. But recently a 10-12% fuel surcharge has been
implemented to compensate for the higher Fuel prices.
But 25% higher? I call that Gouging!!!!

    Gas it and go man!

That's what put me on the road with mine. They obviously are being squeezed by fuel costs now, as are we all!

I assume you are shipping the Challenge car.

As has been mentioned, fuel costs, but also--it's summertime--and these guys are swamped and they don't have to go looking for business. Intercity definitely didn't want mine! So Passport got my business and did just fine. These guys WILL price with demand, no doubt.

I transport exotic cars of all types in my single-car enclosed trailer. I typically can give much better pricing and service than the big transporters. I have transported cars for many members of this message board.

Feel free to give me a call at 240 994-1343 if you're interested in the best service at a great price.

Here are a few links talking about my service:

Rob--- Call Gary A. I've used more carriers than I care to recount but Gary is simply over the top. You won't regret it!!!! I bet my 360 if you aren't satisfied (figure of speech....of course..lol)

  19. Hey Rob,

The new 355 was shipped from FoD (Plano, TX) to Morgan Hill (Just North of Monterey) about two months ago. We used Gold Rush Motorsports. We could not have been more pleased with their service.

I just had a 355 transported from Houston to NJ. Jonathan Peck out of Lamborghini of Dallas runs a transport service. He charged me $1100 one way. I was happy with his service. BTW he only uses 1 or 2 car trailers. Give him a call @ LoD.

From what i recall searching for the best transporter. Intercity came out on tops by far. Also was the cheapest. Good combination. $670 Cinncinati to Conn.

I have used Horseless, Goldrush and Intercity. Intercity is by far the best and also usually the lowest price.
