I know Testarossa engines are hard to come by, I hope nobody here is considering this one! It's clearly a model of one in the pics. I've contacted the seller, the bidders and ebay.

It's certainly worthwhile for the members of the community to be policing this kind of thing, and I think we should be making these things known on here, but we might need a new forum dedicated to this soon! So when you're planning to bid on an auction you can go check it out & see if anyone else thinks it's a fraud. And that certainly shouldn't be a subscriber-only forum!

Either a fraud or the world's biggest keyboard is in the background.

I wonder what on earth the seller is thinking?

Hehe that's great! He tells you he has pics of the real engine to back it up (probably a phrase he lifted from my email to him). He said the name of the shop, they're located in Italy and UK, so I asked him for pics of the actual engine myself! And pics of the shop. And a phone number. What a crock!

I think that engine may actually be very expensive in the 'Monopoly' game.

If I win the auction, do I get the model, or does he just take the money and run?

    My reply to him:

I am sure you don't mind me coming there and picking up the engine and paying for it then and there, are you?

I have an associate that I will send over to do that. He will have the money and will pay you.

Since you would not be so dumb to offer a plastic model engine at pickup but the real thing as you describe it coming out of the car I am sure there is no problem. If you are indeed trying to scam eBay members your fraud will be notified to Scottland Yard, who, like the US FBI, have an eBay fraud division and will arrest you for international fraud.

So, if you do have what you offer there will indeed be no problem with my bidding. I can assure you I have excellent feedback on my other bidder names but your offer sounds fishy with pictures of a plastic engine. So lets see the real thing. What is the engine number?

What you need to tell him is that three guys with no necks will be there to present payment, and to settle any problems if he doesn't deliver...

FWIW, if you follow the thread and hit update in your web browser, the photo with the computer keyboard in the background has been deleted. How come E-Bay hasn't pulled this auction?
