JPM is an idiot and Sato is following in his footsteps. last week I made sevearal comments that JPM should be sent to NASCAR. I stand corrected. JPM and Sato should be sent to Alaska to plough snow!

ferrari 1-2. Eat dirt McLaren, BMW, Renault and BAR.

    Gilles27, Gilles27 ... Gilles27,

Montoya showed complete lack of understanding of vehicle dynamics in that first corner crash, lets study what happened.

    1. No critisim from me for going into the first corner too hot. He is a racing driver and thus should be doing that and sorting it out.

    2. No critisim from me for knocking out his team mate, that happens sometimes.

    3. No critisim from me for the slow start, again that happens.

    4. BUT where he demonstrated very clearly that he has no talent is: Turning into the first corner and when the car did not turn in, he JUMPED on the brakes! Anybody that has done the amount of racing he has, should have wound back the lock when the brakes locked and cadance braked. Yes he probably would still have hit RS, but the fact that he was unable to control a simple front wheel lock up means quite clearly to me he is undeserving of a F1 seat.

The funny thing was Pisonia demonstrated this lack of ability when he crashed a Jaguar road car (with a reporter in the passenger seat) ... and he quite rightly is NOT driving any more.

Anybody that turns into a corner and gets such severe understeer and then jumps on the brakes (which would only make the situation FAR worse) and then turns in EVEN more ... would not even be driving my road car!

Sorry I rest my case on JPM, he may be brave but he needs to learn to feel the car under him. Man handling a car is not how to extract the fastest lap times ... man Ron is going to have his work cut out.

Probably have to start with many class room lectures, ie. this is a steering wheel and it is connected to the front wheels like this. JPM are you listening ... now if the front does not turn in when you turn the steering wheel it is called understeer. What should you do JPM? ... come on JPM pay attention!. No you should NOT brake, you need to get that tyre rotating again and gripping, so you reduce the amount of steering lock ...

    Pete

JM: But it's scary! I go "turn, turn" in my head but noting hapends. I scream "turrrrrrrrrnnnnnnn!" and I go even straighter! How do you turn it. I am pushing on da brakes wit bote feets and even have da car in reverse. How do I make it corner like a rail boat?

Montoya is tooooo slow for this game. Sometimes I cry for him. ;)

Guys, guys, guys. This was clearly Rubens' fault for braking so suddenly for a turn.

After all, if you don't slow down for turns, you can always bounce off the guy on the outside. ;)

Are you kidding me. do you want him to make a turn at 250 km/hr speed?

JPM is an idiot. He is ruining Williams this year and next year he wil ruin a McLaren car. Then he will have no seat in F1 because everyone will realize he is a waste of time.

Hmmm... I wonder... when JPM knows he only has 10-20 laps before his Mercedes engine blows, will he:

    1. Chill out because it doesn't really matter; or
    2. go absolutely bonkers trying to show how good he is in the few laps he has?

    ;)

    I pick Option 3
    3) wreck the car before 10 or 20 laps, well before the Mercedes engine blows. He will make the car look better than it is by not giving it a chance to blow up.

JPM will never be a F1 World Champion. The reason is simply because nobody explained to him that F1 is not Indy. As demostrated, once more, by the Ferrari team in the last race in Germany, tactical intelligence is an integral part of the F1 racing. And JPM is not an intelligent driver. He's like a bull, he lowers down is helmet visor and put the pedal down the metal and nothing can stop him from passing however is in front of him. He's, also, pumped up, excessively, by the British media that do not have anything else to do since they teams (MacLaren and Williams) have been biting the dust for the last 5 years.

    See you at Indy.

Brian, I agree 100% with your two posts that began this thread. Montoya ran out of talent BEFORE the first turn of the first lap of yesterday's race. I feel really badly for Ralf & DaMatta, who were hapless victims of F1's version of Ironhead.

Strasse, I'too, saw Montoya gesture at Ralf with his right hand. He (Montoya) is truly a moron...and a really bad sport besides. I think he has really begun to believe his press from 2002 & 2003, when he was touted as the Next Great Driver. Now he believes he can do no wrong, and is entitled to behave any way he wants. Plus, I believe he is probably smaking himself atop the head hourly as he watches his decision to leave & join McLaren next year become a joke of smoky, explosive proportions.

    You are so right.
Picture JPM in a car that does this. Actually JPM may just wreck the car in the first lap before it can do this.

Maybe we should have a poll on who JPM will punt off of the track at Indy this year????

Lets see 2002 he punted off Ralf in turn 1

In 2003 he punted of Rubens in turn 2

Who will he punt off in turn 3 this year??????

This will be cool since my seats are right between turns 3 and 4, I might just end up with a picture of the punt off ;)

    Great post PSk
I think your suggestions for Montoya are a little advanced for his level of
expertise. Finesse is a concept that he probably finds too abstract to grasp.
Imagine Montoya driving an older 911 at the limit in the rain!!
I in fact find THAT idea too abstract to grasp!!

OK..... I don't usualy jump in on these type of posts but..........
Give me a break, I am a Ferrari fan but this JPM bashing is nuts. For those of you that have short memories JPM came to the US and won the CART championship in his 1st year, won Indy (easily) his 2nd year and for the most part has had the better of Ralph for 3 years. No question he is aggresive, in some cases too much so, but he is by far the best passer in F1. He is not Michael, but no one is. If Michael were not around I would count him as one of 3-4 drivers who could be world champion. Those that call him an idiot look like idiots after what he has accomplished.

Come on - you can do better than spit out what one of the Speed announcers said on race day. Just because they say it doesn't make it true!

What is this best passer stuff anyway? What qualifies JPM with THAT title?

The way I look at it is this - what is the goal of formula one? I would say that it is twofold. First is to win the driver's championship and constructor's title. Next is to make money (as a job).

In all of the years that JPM has been in formula one he has made some money - mind you not as much as his teammate - and has won nothing.

I'm not 100% sure on the statistics, but even if he finished second one year (or two or whatever), you know what they say - second place is the first loser.

Now, admittedly, Michael Schumacher is quite possibly the best driver in the history of formula one, and JPM is unlucky to be driving in the same time period that MS is, but we cannot really say that JPM has accomplished all that much until he actually wins something or does something that is noteworthy. Until then, we can't really call him a great success - one thing we can do for sure is criticize him however for his moves of utter stupidity (which can't really be denied).

If you call winning in a go around in circles series an accomplishment then you are an idiot too.

Also he is not by far the best passer. He goes into a turn too fast and the other driver realises he has two options 1) get hit by the idiot (JPM) or 2) leave JPM alone and let him lose the racing line for the next turn only to retake the lead.

JPM is an idiot that belongs in NASCAR!
