I checked out the system in a store this weekend. Not too expensive. It looks cool, but I also need more info from users Vs what their website will tell me.

I have XM in my 355 and in my Expedition. Absolutely love it. Very unobtrusive and the Alpine head unit with green lighting almost looks stock in the 355.

My guess is that the people who say 'the engine is my music' are usually the folks that only put 2K - 3K per year on their F-car. I intend to do 6K - 8K per year. For at least half of those miles I would like some music. :)

I have XM Satellite Radio in my car (not Ferrari). The difference in sound quality between XM and regular radio is tremendous. At $9.95 or whatever the fee is per month, its definently worth the price. Also, the commercials are non-existant - so if you like listening to music and not commercials - it's for you. (dont know too many people who like listening to radio commercials)

I heard on regular radio today, "8 songs in a row, commercial free"....wow! What is this world coming too!!!

I have had XM since they came out. I have one unit in the TR, one in the Cayenne, and one in the house. I have been so please with it. It was easy to install, and you would never know I had it from the look of the car.

I've had XM in my car (non Fcar..) since the day I bought it 2 years ago. I drove straight from the dealership to my local car stereo shop and had it put in. It's one of the best puchases I've ever made... I never listened to standard radio because they only play junk, separated by extended periods of commercials and stupid dj's yapping about stupid stuff. Even though I have 500-600 CDs, I still got pretty sick of reaching into the same stash of music... XM completely solved that problem.

Any time I rent a car (Hertz) I ask for one with sat radio. They have a deal with Sirius though... I gotta say, Sirius is completely unimpressive. It's barely better than standard radio... it seems like an amateur version of XM.

Anyway, I plan on putting XM radios into all of my future cars. The cool thing is that you don't have to put the antenna on the roof. I have mine on the rear deck of my current car. Have a friend with the antenna in the dash of his truck... works just fine, and no ugly black box on the roof.

I have an XM in my 355. The previous owner had it installed and the antenna hidden down by the wipers. The sound is great as is the programming. I would highly recommend it. Sorry boys but sometimes good tunes goes great with good sounds

XM was installed in my car from the factory. In the six months I have owned it, I have never tuned the FM dial.... XM is so much better.

The $10/month is absolutely worth it.

I highly recommend SIRIUS SAT radio, I barely even listen to Cd's or regular radio anymore. the PRogramming is far superior to XM.

I have both XM satellite radio and Sirius satellite radio (one in the Accord which came with it, and one that I bought previously) and both are truly excellent. I'll never listen to FM again, and that's no lie. They are incredible in terms of how they can be tailored to fit your own style of music and talk shows, with no adds and little redundancy.

However neither service offers a competitive advantage over the other in terms of content in both my opinion as well as the opinion of un-biased professional reviewers. Whenever you hear someone shout that one of them is "far superior" than the other, realize that this person is a small time shareholder in that particular company and is pumping it for their own gain.

Funny I know, but these people are near-religious zealots that love the product so much that they've convinced themselves that the companies are the investment that will make them rich. Meanwhile both companies lose -$80M per quarter, LOL!

    Ok, back on topic:

The thing I like about XM that seems to be a true advantage, is that their wearable small walkman (no bulky antenna) is shipping to stores at the end of summer. I exercise a lot outdoors and I'm drooling over the prospect of that baby arriving soon. I've emailed Sirius about the same device on their side of the service, and their timetable for introduction of their walkman isn't until the "Fall of 2005" so it's a good ways out.

I also like the fact that XM's newest hardware can scroll live stock prices via a ticker on the face of the unit, and it's programmable by the user, meaning you input your stocks and it will scroll them for you repeatedly.

On the other hand, Sirius has the rights to broadcast NFL content, meaning games, while XM does not, so if you're a football junkie who for some odd reason doesn't have the game on TV each Sunday then Sirius may be the way to go because you can listen to it over the air.

Either of them is a great choice. Highly recommended.

Just placed new serius sys in my 328 2 weeks ago. Tuner was serius ready JVC LHX500 w/ touch screen. Only draw back was sattelite placement. I ended up centering just behind roof panel (outside). Not too noticable. Has strong magnet to hold in place, route wiring just under rubber gasket. Love it!

I got XM recently...I am still programming in channels. The one gripe is it is not "commercial free" and in addition they have ongoing silly one-line announcements and channel identifiers that irk me.

    Just get to content, please

Actually I'm pretty sure XM went 100% commercial-free back in March... At least the channels I listen to don't have commercials. There are a few stations that have lame tags and one liners, but I can handle 20 seconds of that per hour compared with 30 minutes of that per hour on FM...

Silver99 i agree 100%. I've been subscribing to XM for over a year now and i absolutely love it.I also listen to SIRIUS during the day on occasion and like it as well. I'm not sure that i agree Boston7777 that SIRIUS programming is any better than XM. Different , yes, better ? I'm not so sure.IMO either service is light years ahead of AM or FM currently on the airwaves.

I have XM in the 512TR and Suburban and Sirius in another car. I love having satellite radio. I usually listen to CD's but I do like to crank up the rock tunes even in the 512 (maybe especially in the 512).

I have listened to Sirius more than XM and have preferred it because more of their stations were commercial free. Lately, listening to XM again it did not seem like an issue.

So do you have a stock sound system? I know we are supposed to listen to the engine...but some Hendrix can do the sould some good.

I recall looking at TR's and the interior was not hifi friendly for upgrades..but no f-car is

No, I have an Alpine head unit with an amp. I used to have a sub up under the hood but I took that out to save room, weight and space. Since I have tin ears this works fine for me.

The sat antenna sits under the hood up near the windshield so that it can receive signals better but you can't see it from the outside.
