Uh, oh. Finally my brain is processing what my eyes have read a long time ago:

Playersrun cars will be in Chicago? Holy smokes!

I just came back from Barcelona where I watched the Spanish F1 GP. After that I met with the Gumball 3000 guys and their cars at the hotel and have to say that meet was a lot more interesting than the GP.

So, hey, I'll be at the Peninsula, no doubt. Now would that be on Saturday or Sunday? And Markus, could you get us access to the car area? In Barcelona only the intervention of one of the Gumballers got me passed the security guards.

BTW: You guys rock! The ultimate driving club.

  2. Can someone give some more info about the times I plan on visit both oak street and the players run the 6th. Just want to know what time to get there.

    Thanks

If you're trying to do both, I suggest you show up late:

Oak Street runs till about 3pm and 3:30pm is the earliest for the Playersrun cars to arrive.

To take in all the cars at Oak Street will easily take you an hour, so be there before 2pm and then head over to the Peninsula (about 15 walking minutes away).

I never did get a chance to register for the Oak St. event. Is it worth taking the 355 downtown or should I leave it at home due to parking issues?

First of all you need to be a FCA member in good standing (meaning your dues are paid). If you are, I would give Mike Epifanio a quick call and see what he thinks.

I'd assume they're full by now, but a reservation doesn't guarantee a place, so if somebody prepaid, but doesn't show up on time, you'd get that spot. So there is always a chance.

And if nothing else, the "overflow parking" is always interesting too. Last year we had great cars on surrounding streets and they drew their own crowds as well.

I talked to Mike at the Track day in South Haven and he said he was in the process of trying to get a Permit to get another street for more Ferraris. I don't know if he got it or not??? May want to call him, maybe there is still room for more cars. He said there were almost a hundred Ferrari's comming. So, that in itself means get there EARLY!!!!! See you all there, just claybared and waxed my car, it's ready to go.... :)

Is this event closed to the public? If so, then I meant see you all the Penninsula Hotel for the Player's Run greeting.

Oops, of course not. My bad wording. I meant you have to be a FCA member to participate with your car. The event itself is open to the public.

Hey Andreas, If i'm coming from out west here, i would take 290 into the city and then head North on Michigan Av. until i hit Oak Street??? Is that a good way to get there on sunday??? Also, i know the earlier the better, what is the best time to arrive there in the morning??? Do they just park the cars as they arrive, or are we parked by models????

As you can see, this will be my first Oak Street event, yes, i am a member and yes, Mike has my application... :)

    Thanks, See you there.....

Check-in will be on the south east corner of Rush & State like last year.It will start at 7:30 and end at 10 sharp. If we have space left after registered cars are parked we will take more cars but you still must be a FCA member. We will have membership applications on hand .The continental breakfast will start at 8am. and go till 10. There are 100 cars registered so get there as early as you can.

You guys aren't going to believe this, but I finally filled out and paid for an FCA membership online. It only took year, but better late than never. Anyway, maybe I'll show up early and try to get a spot.

    IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!

Now you'll just have to wait and see if the club will accept you as a member! ;)

Show up early, if this year is like last year, there may be some registered no-shows, and you might get your car in the parade.

For me and my gal, we will be looking for a good ristorante with valet parking in the area, then walk to the event. Maybe there is something in the vicinity of the hotel where Marcus and the others are staging? Any ideas there?

PS-While a member of Central Indy chapter, I am not seeking to be in the Oak St car show. Mine will be in Circle at F1 weekend, as always. So, if you want to see Boxer12 this weekend, you will have to chase me down somewhere in Chitown.

PPS-If you see Boxer12 and its not me driving it, call the police!! Ciao Jim ; )

There is an indoor parking Garage at the 900 N.Michigan Building. Accessable from the Rush St. side, across from Rosebud. I don't recall what they charge to park there, but,it's not bad.

Last year, we made the cutoff for registered cars to show at, I believe, 10:10AM.

After that we, started taking in the unregistered, on a first come- first served basis.

So yes, get there early, if you want your car on Oak St.

I suggest to get there by 7-7:30 AM.

I guess I am in. Haven't heard if my entry was accepted or rejected, so I take that to mean it was accepted!!
I hope I hear the alarm clock when it goes off at 3:00 AM. Shouldn't be too much traffic on the drive up at that time of day.

My car is not done at the paint shop (nose resprayed from rock chips & rear area resprayed thanks to stress cracks on the c-pillar), so I'll see you all around 1-2pm-ish.

Get this! Found a bulge running around about 25% of the inner sidewall of the rear Asimmetrico. Not going anywhere this weekend! Will take several days to get new rubber. Oh well. Have fun guys! Jim

It was another fantastic event with lots of cars (almost 100), many unique and/or vintage. Weather was typical Chicago, but we were spared the rain. Was great fun to talking to all of you guys. The more people I get to know, the more fun these things are, 'cause from 8am to 3pm is a long time if you got nobody to talk to.

Pictures? Hmm, did I take any? Probably...Will post them tomorrow. Don't want to steal other's thunder, but I'm happy to fill in some of the blanks.

Thanks Mike E., Drew, Dave, Gisela and all the other helpers for making this another great event. We got now a nice tradition going.

PS: WGN 9, watch the 9pm news. Hopefully Tod's 328 is in it.
