    Hello again "F"-Chatters,

I pulled the plugs from my 79 308 and found that they may have been hotter the O.E. spec'd they're NGK-BP6ES rather than spec'd NGK-BP6ES. Can there be any damage caused by this? What would the advantages be??

    Please advise..........

I think you mis-typed the plug numbers as they're both the same...

In any case, one number up in heat range should not cause any damage, but I wouldn't do any high-speed cross-country driving with them.

I currently have NGK 5's in the car. When I do my drive down to CA in August, I'll be putting my 6's back in there. With NGK's, the smaller the number, the hotter the plug.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the purpose of a hotter plug? Is it to ignite the fuel sooner or to create a bigger explosion in the cylinder or what? Thanks, Jerry.
