    Does any body know the diameter for 3x8 series engine valve shims? Are the shims the same for 2 valve and 4 valve engines? While I'm at it, what is the range of the thickness of the shims?

    I don't have specific answers to your questions, but I've been told that you can match them up at a Volvo dealership's parts department...

    My notes have the 308-2V valve shim diameter as 33mm (same as Fiat) and the 308-4V diameter as 29mm (same as Volvo).

    Go to the old site and do a search on "valve shim", AND mode, whole words only -- should get you ~40 relevant threads to review.

    My '78 SPC shows the 308-2V shim thickness as going from 3.25mm to 4.60mm in 0.05mm steps
