john - you're not willing to pay $1.25 US per month (effectively, a one year silver subscription) to load up tens of MB of pictures to share with your friends and others?

This means during your total time here on fchat, you have posted 5 MB + 25.58 MB. Thus you cannot post anymore images since you have already exceeded said amount by a factor of 5 or so.

There is no mandatory cost here to join and contribute. Why should Rob host your pictures at no cost?

There are other sites if you're frustrated... I just visited one. I scanned down the General Discussion area and the most exciting post was,

"What does S J stand for in the ferrari emblom?"

So I decided to come back here. :)

<sigh> Well, I could understand if you haven't read the past two newsletters, but I PERSONALLY explained this one to you when *****ing about the subscriptions. I gave this to you as an alternative, you eventually just chose to subscribe though.

Paying $1.25 US per month is not a problem.

I'm going to subscribe but only at the end of June because I have to study for my exams in 2 weeks.

You know I really wanted to subscribe in May but I'm not that often on f-chat lately.

Interesting point, but why should someone pay to post a pic, because Rob chooses to not allow the use of the IMG statement? I won't upload my pics here, because it is a PITA resizing etc. additionally, they become the property of Rob, which is not my intention in posting on the board. Rob is building an asset for himself here. He is not doing this as a charity, at the same time the cost of provising this service is relatively nominal, other than his time. I respect his strategy and wish him the best, but he won't be seeing any $ from me. The point here is he isn't demanding any either. I am still free to post, browse and contribute, so his decision cannot be branded as unfair.

Sorry Rob - couldn't resist the opportunity to have another poke at your IMG policy!

Ok guys come on. The man gives you 5 MB to post images.

Do you know what you can do with 5 MB?

Well, lets see here: 5 MB is 5120 KB

Since the average BIGGER image is about 120KB in size, lets see what good old math tells us: 5120 KB / 120 KB = 42 and 2/3.

So there you have it, you can freely post over 40 decently large images on fchat free of charge. Most images are less then that even in size! And for barely over a dollar a month, you can post as many as you like!

I would imagine nominal implies the approx $1.25/month. I spend more on junk food.

A hosted server on a dedicated link can be had for $200 per month.
All things are relative, I have 32 servers on redundant gigbit uplinks. I could host 20 Ferrarichat forums at no cost on infrastructure that already has 24X7 monitoring and support.
