anyone has info or data about Pink Floyd members racing this vintage. is it true a Pink Floyd guy has one of the most valuable Ferraris (GTO) all pics and info on this, Will be appreciated is this race still held ?
Nick Mason has a FANTASTIC collection of cars. About 10 years ago a video was done of Mason racing a C-Type Jaguar replica (Lynx, I think) in the new Carrera. Even wrote some music for the video. I believe the title of the video was La Carerra; done as an hour documentary film.
I suggest you bop on down to the video store and get the movie! It's most excellent, with PF soundtrack and really gives a feel of the modern event as well as vintage footage. there are some good books also. mason and a mate ran it in repro vintage Jags. one went off a cliff! I saw the repro for sale some time later in Robb Report for a decent price I thought, but did not know WHICH one it was! LOL. The guy who flew off the cliff broke his leg, IIRC. The actual race was always good for a few fatalities, back in the day. GET THE MOVIE. IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mason did a most excellent book on driving all his cars on track. "At the Limit" or something like that. I have it. HTH
Wasn't it Gilmour and Steve O'Rourke who did the Carrera? I might be wrong, I haven't seen the video.
Man, I can't remember exactly, 2 cars = 4 guys. the soundtrack was definately Pink Floyd style stuff. I'll check, I have both VHS and 12" laser disc. Looks like I have the wrong format! LOL. Where's the DVD????
Nick Mason has owned 3757 GT since 1978. The registration (license plate) is 250 GTO. He may have paid more for that than many of our more mundane cars are worth!
I have the movie but never actually finished it. Being the Floyd fan and car nut that I am, I was expecting them to make a fascinating combo. I found it boring instead. David Gilmour is in one car and Nick Mason the other. As for At The Limit: Great book!
