HA! Right! It may have been a good movie technically speaking, just can't stand the premise and characters. I put it right up there with Raindeer Games. At the request of my girl friend I tried to watch Fargo 3 different times and quit after 30 minutes. I guess it was the stupid 'dog ear' hats they wore that gave me the urge to shoot the TV............................................
x-men 1 and 2. Those are 2 of the only movies I have ever fallen asleep in. I think they typify what is wrong with the movies and the American public in general. Those movies were so shallow and 1 dimensional it was amazing. All flash and no substance. Just like most americans. I mean, did you really care when 1 of the characters died or was about to. NO. No eemotional depth at all. Great special effects though. Americans have become so easily satisfied. OOOHHH, look at all the pretty colors and the explosions. ooohhh. There are really so many movies that fall into this categor, many of which have already been mentioned(fast and furious). These 2 just stuck out in my head morethan the others.
HAHAH. Good one. I think I agree with you. I guess I am just sick of ignorant people. It just seems like America is becoming increasingly filled with them.
Had to stay up to wait for my daughter to come home, so I watched the second Charlie's Angels movie on cable. It is impossible for me to imagine a worse film. In fact, I think it must have required a conscious effort to make something so bad.
The only movie I ever walked out of was Interiors. The movie I was most disappointed in was Starship Troopers, it truly sucked. Doogie Howser as a Psy-ops officer? I don't think so. It was too bad because I've always been a Heinlein fan.
HUGE Hugh Grant LIST About a Boy.... Wanted to see which leg it would hurt less to gnaw off in order to continue watching Matrix Reloaded -- ok guys I GET IT you can do DAZZELING special effects but HOLYCRAP where was the story... fell asleep 3 times Legally Blond 2 (OHMYGODITSTUNK) ANYTHING with Jennifer Lopez... Mariha Carry... etc (I was on the set of Glitter and everyone knew it was a stinker except her...) Same thing for Angel Eyes.... (both shot in my old neighborhood in Toronto) Heavens Gate, Waterworld, Wild Wild West, 9 months, 4 weddings and a funeral, love actually, nottinghill, the postman, Sphere, and for the true Cheeze follow this link http://imdb.com/name/nm0000219/ Now KUNG POW! was freaking funny, It was supposed to be that bad... Dear Hunter is one of the best movies ever made and I want to get the studio executives in a room who greenlighted Highlander II and III and have a little talk with them about ruining something, little talk should include demonstration with 5 lb mallet.
We know that most sequels suck, so that shold just be a given. Here is my list. Lawnmower Man Lair of the White Worm Space Camp Meet Joe Black Memento Anything with Kevin Costner especially "Tincup" Air America "Legally Blond 2 (OHMYGODITSTUNK)" WriterGuy, it took cojones to admit you saw that one Anybody here see my all time fav..."Rustler's Rhapsody" it's a classic
Rustlers Rhapsody was funny Momento was a really good movie it broke many "Rules" and pulled it off well IMHO Legally Blond... (i never said i dated Smart women only LIKED to date smart women) amazing what you will do when you have to
Was flipping through Starz last night and was reminded of a truly awful movie that I cannot believe hasn't been mentioned: Reign of Fire I actually sat through that one hoping it would get better. I wanted to like it, but it is truly awful. To each his own, but I love Starship Troopers. Stupid, yes, but very entertaining. Doogie as a ESP psy-ops officer was great casting, IMO. The geek shall inherit the Earth... I wonder if actors and directors, while they are making a film such as the ones mentioned in this thread actually know that they are making a POS, or are they oblivious to how bad the film their making truly will be?
the ENTIRE CREW on Glitter knew it was a stinker. but hey they were getting paid and well so shut up and keep sewing.... OH did it stink even in shooting It was freaking funny to watch you could almost see the Asst Director watching his soul slowly taper away and the cable pullers kept making like they were hanging themselves...
Surprised nobody has mentioned "Waterworld" or "Independence Day" yet.... "Chicago" bored me to tears, but I wouldn't call it a bad movie. For the record, I like "Hudson Hawk" though. Totally tongue in cheek! "Fargo" was great too. I enjoyed "Unbreakable", but thought "Signs" was pretty weak.
More bad memories drummed up.... Revolution (with Al Pacino); Eraserhead (that really messed me up!); Godfather III ($$$$$$$$$$$$....); and anything "made for television"
You have got to be kidding! I LOVED that movie, bought the DVD, and have watched it multiple times. One of my all-time favorites. Gary
After watching Speed channel lat night I have a new one for my list, Cannonball. Made back in 1976 starring David Carradine. No Ferraris featured in this film but there is a yellow Pantera & some muscle cars.
All good selections, but really only davem nailed it: Far From Heaven. Easily the worst, weirdest, most plotless, ***giest movie that I have seen.
dude, I'll second Deer Hunter. That movie was complete trash. I'll add "Slaughter of the Innocents." just kidding, Jim!!!
But you are not even Jeweish! Three thousand years of tradition from Moses to Sandy Kofax.... Let me tell you something pandejo.....you got that one right! Did that ever occor to you, Sir? Anything but the Eagles man! ------------------------------- This movie is a real gem with Cohen brothers at their best. I do not remember laughing harder in any other movie, ever. Next best would be "Gross point blank."
Worst movies ever for me would have to include : - Howard the Duck ...yuck ! OTOH, the corniness was something of a saving grace - Moulin Rouge - unadulterated sh!te. Even my wife hated it. Honestly, why are people so smitten with Nicole Kidman, she looks like crap !! - City by the Sea - total sleep fest with big star names like De Niro - One hour photo - Robin Williams should stick to comedy. A lukewarm buildup leaves you hoping for a totally bloody ending, and you're left feeling totally cheated instead. - Signs - an overrated crock of crap. Shyamalan got lucky with The Sixth Sense which really had little going for it other than a trick ending and Haley Joel Osment's spooky vacant stare. Unbreakable was almost dead boring, but Signs was the worst. (the next three movies would also fall under the category of most horribly overrated, judging by their performance at the Oscars) : - Traffic - overrated meandering excuse for a film. Could have used some nice editing snip snips and a lot more focus. - The English Patient - similar to Traffic, see above. - Fargo - not abysmal, but really overrated. Once you get past the stupid pokes at Minnesota accents and Lundegaard (Macy)'s stupidity, there really isn't anything to the movie. Certainly not the masterpiece the Film Academy was making it out to be. ***************************************************** In the category of "I can't believe other people didn't like them !" I would include : Goonies - I thought this movie totally rocked !! Really enjoyed it as a kid, and then enjoyed it again as an adult. Groundhog day : Brilliant comedy, with the social message so subtly and artfully worked in that it didn't seem preachy at all. Memento : Unconventional film-making at its best ! The conclusion was a little too open-ended for my liking, but it was a refreshing movie. Starship Troopers : Not one of my favorites, but how can anyone hate a movie with such over the top violence and gore. Definitely one of the better "slasher"/sci-fi flicks. That group shower scene with the hot chicks didn't hurt either...man I wish we could have more co-ed showers like that RIGHT NOW !!
