V 12 Distributor

1 - 6, not firing order. It's just the sequence as the rotor turns.

This applies to the standard 12 cyilider distributors - othes, like the 412 are difeferent.

 

Cylinder, not cyilider, others, not othes, different, not difeferent!!!
I guess I rely too much on spell-check and then mess up without it.

 

Forget the spelling -- I still don't even understand the question! How can 1 distributor of a 2-distributor V-12 set-up be associated with "1-12"?

Is the question: "Does each distributor serve 1 complete bank -- i.e., one distributor for the 1-6 bank and the other distributor for the 7-12 bank, or does each distributor serve some cylinders in both banks"?

I probably won't know the answer, but I'd like to understand the question

 

First off we need to know the model of Ferrari your working on. Second like others have stated, we need more clairification on the question being asked. A twin distributor car one distributor will run one bank say 1-6 and the other will run 7-12, which I think is what your asking

 

My distributors each have 1-6 on them, which is obviously the order of the distributor.

In addition to this, some previous owner (or mechanic) put little sleeves around each wire to indicate the firing order of that bank.

For example, my 330's firing order is:
1-7-5-11-3-9-6-12-2-8-4-10

That means that the passenger side bank firing order is
1-5-3-6-2-4

Therefore, the little sleeves corresponded:
1-2-3-4-5-6 is what's on the distributor
1-5-3-6-2-4 is what's on the little sleeves.

The little sleeves are factory installed.

365 GTC/4 - US version, i.e. two distributors. Each distributor cap is numbered 1-6.

Matt: On my car, there is one of the little sleeves at EACH end of the plug wire. The sleeve at the cap end MUST match the cap number. Your photo and description indicates that your car is different.

The sleeve at the other end indicates the cylinder number.

That would make sense.

I suppose at some time someone re-arranged the sleeves. (Thanks for telling me that they came from the factory. I might have thrown them away at some point.)

I changed my spark plugs several weeks ago for the first time, and didn't even notice if there were sleeves on the other end of the wires; I just went one at a time.
