It was a really "wild" day, with some rather unusual turn of events today including Fire trucks being called in for a minor situation in a building .

Got a real thrill sitting in Raab Hilary's 62' GTO Spyder. A really cool car that won an award. Raab was a member of the "Chicago Gang" as the insignia indicates on the front fenders.

I took many pics at the event that will be posted to the FCA Central States web site shortly.

News Coverage aired on Fox 32 at 9:00 PM tonight.

You forgot to mention that the winner of the $800 'Best of Show' crystal trophy dropped it, and it broke in to a thousand pieces!

Don't know if it was dropped, or how exactly it was broken but yes, it is now in many pieces.

Nada, zip zilch, nihil. Only Fox had a ultra brief report. When you compete against a dead president and D-Day, it is hard to get your pet peeve aired.

great pictures, please forgive my ignorance, but is that 250 gto spyder real? what i mean by that is, is it a factory original car or an after market chop top, i never knew that it existed ( please tell me its not a dastun based replicar!........ im joking it looks genuine in the photos)
any info on the car and when the conversion was done , if it is a conversion, will be appreciated thanks AL

It is a Velo Rosso based on a Datsun...nott!

You're right, such a car was never built and GTOs were/are too pricey to ever be chopped. There are only two cars like this in existence: This one and the one from ZZ Top drummer (that one is red). I believe they're based on 250 GTE (not totally sure on that though) with a specially made body.

I was lucky enough to get a seat probe and you can tell from the smile of my face how much I loved that (I would probably loose my mind, if I'd actually drive this thing). Seating position screams race car. It's simply awesome. The pic with the blue bucket seats shows the interior. Ok, I could do without the orientals.
    :)

That's a stunner of a car, that conversion GTO convertible. Is that Hilary Raab's car?

Is the 250 Drogo (I think) still owned by Hugh Ruthven?

Love the pic of the F40 with the city skiline in the back ground. Oh, and thanks for the pic of the lovely ladies. Those are always nice...

  20. Event was losts of fun the cars where great. What did you have to have to get behind the gates. ?

The best part of the event was hearing and seeing the cars leaving the F40 tearing up Michigan Ave.

Glad you got a kick out of that one. I took the reference to the cars, which are often referred to as girls/ladies (Angelina Jolie in "Gone in 60 seconds": Hello Ladies). Last year "The Italian Job" played at that theater, that had an even closer connection.
