Where do Ferrari parts for older out of production models come from. Is there a finite stock of these parts in a Ferrari warehouse somewhere, or does Ferrari actually manufacture them on demand? Or is there a lot of cannibalisation going on.
For example if you break a wiper stalk on a Testarossa, where does that part come from?

    Guys,
nobody else is replying on this topic because it's not a simple answer.
There are quite a few sources for parts, and you sometimes have to hunt for which one has what you're looking for. It's a lot like most old cars with the exceptions that there isn't a big aftermarket as muscle cars have but there IS a global guardian of old parts. They're called FERRARI UK.
Some things are plain old unavailable. There's a recent thread on that, too. If you do a search on FERRARI UK you'll find just about all of the threads on this forum about where to get parts, because they have a large inventory and are the official people you shop through when you shop for parts at www.owners.ferrari.com . Matter of fact, there's a thread that was started in the last couple of days where someone is trying to get a list of sources gathered.

I just bought a whole second car. It was easier.

You just have to develope a knowledge of who does the best with which parts.

Some new/old stock is still available, and FerrariUK has been authorized to manufacture new items as well.

Reoriginials here in US does that too.

I just let my tech source them for the most part, 'cause he needs to make some money, too! You don't take your eggs to Denny's and ask them to cook them for you, after all.

It's best to buy them before they go in the yellow box, but sometimes unavoidable dealing with dealers.

Still, that does not anscwer my question, I do not want to know WHERE to get the parts, but a rethorical question of where do they come from. Does ferrari manufacture any given spare part for every few cars and then stores them, can they manufacture them on the spot (even out of production models)

Ferrari uses vendors, like any auto maker.

If you follow history, these vendors range from small specialty manufacturers, like wooden trimmed steering wheels, to very large independent companies, like Magnetti Marelli and Weber.

Ferrari has in house casting and leather shops, with very fine craftsmen and women. I guess I don't understand your question, exactly.

They had a vendor appreciation function recently of all the business partners of the current cars.

i believe he is asking if there is a source for parts as they get older, as in new parts made recently for a car that is 20 to 30 years old. the answer is usually no. most parts are left over stock *** or*** in some cases there is an interchange with another car, or someone is reproducing the parts " if " there is enough demand.
example:1970 to 1971, 1972- 1973 Z28's and trans ams were very unique and few were made in GM mass production terms . some key parts are very hard to find , and only in the last 2 years or so have there been any companies making quality OEM spec restoration quality parts.
this is related to ferrari, as so few are made and they frequently dont share many components with other cars or other ferrari's. so either you make something different work,( this affects resale and originality) or you hope someone starts reproducing the parts.
