Ok, this is happening way too often, what gives?
Well, no one called me and although the host has told me they have been monitoring my box closer, no one caught it, so that's why it didn't come back up until I logged on for the first time this morning. I'll be calling the host after a couple work meetings this morning to rip them a new one. I'm sure you're getting sick of this as I'm really about to blow. FYI, sending me emails doesn't do a bit of good. If I'm reading email, then I'm also on the site and know what's going on. The only thing that gets it back up quicker is if I'm called when I'm not online and informed there's a problem. We've been having problems for the past 2-3 weeks. I would estimate the server has only been up about 95% of that time vs. almost 100% for the past couple years. The host has several people working on it, I'm talking with many knowledgeable users from this site, and I'm also working with all the 3rd party software providers. We'll get to the bottom of it shortly, sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks, rob
Gosh, don't you guys have a girlfriend??????? Or need to mow the lawn, or do something outside????? Change the oil/plugs in your car??? I'm worried about you....you look pale to me!! LOL
Nope, still raining. And raining. And raining. Only thing to do outside is watch the pool overflow and wash down to the creek through the neighbor's lawn.....
It gets worse for us guys on the other side of the world, who have to wait for rob328gts to wake up, and then when its fixed, we're just going to bed... I actually had to WORK in the office! Argh!
Rob, have you thought about splitting the DB & webserver into two boxes? I can run more efficiently that way. Although it does double the box costs.
Yes, I noted this suggestion of yours from the Rossa thread. I'm about ready to call the host right now, actually the senior tech that's going to design the new system for me. Hopefully I can put some pressure on him that if he wants me to buy into something more expensive, that they better fix the current. The $7 an hour techs don't seem to care much.
some pimply faced, long necked, computer geek. I get nervous when they walk in my office!!! LOL Now maybe you could get Chelle to check it out, before she leaves for Iraq.
That's prime time for other activities...if you get the drift.....all the dancers are headed home............
Have you tried looking at the database? Probably a corrupt record(s) in there somewhere. I'll use MYSQL for mission critical apps just as soon as I feel like having a headache five days a week. Also according to netcraft the two servers you are hosted on the PHP version's don't line up. One is 4.2.3 and one is 4.3.3. Highly unlikely that this would be troublesome but you never know.....
Hey Rob, I just wanted to say thanks for hosting this. I know computer problems can be a pain in the ass ( I used to have a networking / computer business) but I appreciate your efforts. Give them / yourself some time to work it out.... AND gives us some time to get left seat experience and get away from the computer.....lol Not Rossa yet but give me a minute... Eric Anyway, while I got you here. Have you considered having a "sticky" thread for introductions in the specific regional areas? So people could write one post about themselves as intro to their region. It would give us an idea of how many we have---------------- just a thought
We have thought about a forum just for introductions, but would the old users go? Also, just encouraging lurkers and new users to post. I think at least a "show yourself" and introduction threads now and then would be great. Thanks.
ROLFLMAO!! i was wondering what was going on..... with all Rob has to do, it figured it would get worked out out!
