I just installed my lift ! I went with the autolifters M6....took about 4 hours to put it together... I now have 5 spots in my garage instead of 4 !
Thats funny, my wife said the exact same thing...said it would look cool to have 8 cars in a four car garage ! I do love her so !
How hard was it getting the lift off of the truck? Did you have to take it apart to get it off, or? How many people put it together with you? My garage will be finished in August, so I'm trying to start planning the lift stuff now. Scott
Hi Scott, the lift comes stacked with the ramps on top of each other, with 2 steels packing plates bolted to each end. The shipping company gave us the time to undo it on the truck and 3 guys had it off the truck in 30 minutes... Four people are needed to lift the heaviest part during the installation which should take about 4 hours (not including soothing beverage breaks)... I paid $1975 for the lift, and bought an extra jack tray...cost was 2250 delivered....The lift is rated for 7000 lbs and has been tested up to 24,000 lbs...I can attest to its excellent build quality...
Looks great, I been meaning to ask how do you like the Cayenne S thinkin about adding it to my garage in the near future. How is the exaust note performance etc..
Jimmy, If I could find an F Car like yours, I'd be seriously tempted ! (Nicest interior I've seen) ..... I'm a big fan of the F40 and 512BB carburated....
I love the Cayenne...my wife drives it daily, its safe and has excellent torque... It will get going quite quickly with 340 hp on tap. Its not as maniacal as the Cayenne TT of course, but my heart skipped a beat or two when I had visions of my wife in a Cayenne TT, on 20's, in the snow ! Thas a disaster waiting to happen ! the exhaust note is not loud... All in all, well worth it, and after several months, we both love it
Yeah I heard the Cayenne Turbo and it sounded impressive thought the S might sound good as well. How does it do in the snow. ?
While we are admiring the garage and toys - can you tell us more about the Ruf you got in that garage?? Is it a Ruf vin Rturbo?
Hi, It is not a Ruf Vin # car....I took a new 996 TT and had Ruf do a full conversion on it to 550hp specs (they do 520hp for the standard R, 550hp and 590hp "Nardo" spec engines) They replaced the exhaust, turbos, intake, ECU, suspension, wheels and instrument panel. They added a short shifter and a taller 6th gear good for 219 mph. It does 0-60 in 3.5 secs all day long.... i am really pleased with the result, and Ruf customer service is the best there is...
Robert, Awesome garage ! I like the space you had built into the ceiling so the car on the lift can be raised all the way up....NICE CARS !!! My compressor arrived last week, and I have wall mounted the air hose reel. I also ordered an 18 gallon oil drain tank on casters, and various other garage accessories....
The exhaust note is loud when you step on it.... The Cayenne is extremely stable in the rain, and did quite well in the limited amount of snow we had here in KY....
Thanks for the compliment on my interior. By the way, what kinda rear wing you got on your 996? Looks very sharp. Very similiar (but subtle) to my friend's 996, see here: http://www.jimmy540i.com/996.htm (Of corse I love your new headlights better, do you like the headlight design on the 997?)
Very nice, RufMD! Gotta love those AutoLifters hoists. Built to last! Be sure to check the cable adjustments after a month or so. You'll probably find that you need to adjust slightly due to cable stretch. After that, check approximately every 90 days. Safety first!
Hey thanks Ruf, Yeah I had to cut a little opening for my lift, but it worked very nice!! And your garage/cars way to cool, VERY NICE!! Robert
Thanks for the tip....in fact, it was a picture of your garage that made me look into the autolifter brand !
The lift and garage look great. I've been thinking about adding one also. Do you plan on working on the cars or just lifting it? I was thinking about a two post so that the wheels could be removed but I think the four post is more stable. Is there a good way to do this with a four post?
