KUBANG? Uh...no! Atom or Neutron...naming this couldn't be easy (obviously...Kubang???)! Nice looking vehicle thou.
The Maserati SUV (aka Kubang) is officially a no-go. So, there won't be a Maserati SUV. At least not in the next few years - Jon
the poll is just a goof...com'on there's no way I was serious about the names. I did sorta like Matrix or maybe some name of a ship from Star Wars. Kubang is kind of a wicked looking vehicle.
True. But, because the Kubang is a confimed no-go, it will be at least a few years before Martin Leach and crew think about doing one. Safe for now, but never say forever! - Jon
It almost makes sense for Maserati to make a SUV. Maserati road cars have always been grand tourers (okay not always but after the early 60's) and the people mover is the best road car possible nowadays. Now I am not talking about the pathetic, unnecessary 4WD SUV's but cars like my Toyota Tarago which is a 7 seater rear wheel driver road car. It is a fantasticly great family car with heaps of room ... all it lacks is more performance/fun orientated driving appeal. While comfort, lots of space and performance and fun do not always go together, the Maserati Grand Tourers of the past have always been great compromises ... thus a 7 seater rear wheel drive Maserati that drove like a Maserati would be fantastic for people who actually have a family and like to drive and tourer. But please, please manufacturers cancel the 4WD. There is no need for all family vehicles to have 4WD. I never, ever intend to off road my family car and all unnecessary 4WD does is raise the car and ruin car dynamics, and waste petrol through more mechanical losses. If I was a little wealthier and Maserati came out with a equivalent of my Toyota Tarago I would order it tomorrow ... if it has 4WD and ofroading pretentions I wouldn't because fncked if I want to drive around in a thing that corners like a truck, and even if they can engineer it to corner okay it will never corner as well as it could minus the 4WD and jacked up suspension. Pete
Pete ps: I was serious. I have a large family and thus am consigned to driving boring cr@p mobiles if I want everybody in the same car ... there is a whole in the market for people like me. Just because you like kids does not mean you have to hate driving
Given right now they're named the 'Maserati Coupe' and 'Maserati Spyder,' and 'Four-Door Maserati,' I expect something very compelling for the next models title... like the 'Maserati Vehicle,' or 'Maserati Vettore.' I don't know Maser's racing history and those names, but I agree it would be nice if they started using some real names.
I have looked at the Porsche and before that the BMW 4.6is but never planned on going off roading but would want the feature for winter driving, Like the many others who consider these cars. I think that is a big target group for Porsche at least, All those seasonal drivers who drove some other SUV in the winter. So for these to succeed they must have either 4wd or AWD
It does not snow in Australia ... thus why not make the 4WD or AWD an option? Currently I have 2 choices: 1. Buy a people mover and bore myself silly. 2. Buy a fncken great big truck 4WD SUV and play Crocodile Hunter. Most guys buy the 4WD truck because they feel insecure about their manhood or something ... I like driving and will never own a piece of cr@p 4WD truck that has a 6 foot high roll centre. I am going to contact some suspension places and enquire about increasing the spring rate on the front of my Toyota Tarago. I do not normally modify road cars, but this car is sooooooo soft in the front it understeers in a straight line thinking about a corner . The ideal car for me in my position would be this Toyota with a Turbo hanging off it and sensible spring rates ... Ford in Australia have just realised a car called the Terrority and finally 4WD is an option. The car is not as big as a 4WD Landcruiser or the Nissan trucks and has all independent suspension instead of kart axles all round. This would be the car I would buy if it did not have a 4 litre engine and thus sucks gas like a dehydrated alcoholic ... but good on Ford for thinking outside the square. Pete
Kubang is the name of a kind of wind stream in Malaysia or something like that. Many Maseratis had names of "winds": Ghibli, Shamal, etc... so Kubang is OK for me.
This is not a wind we are naming. combinations of Letters and Numbers seem to be more attractive to me. Q45 S600 etc.
