    Rob -

I'm pretty heavily involved in the ERP software biz... so take this comment with a grain of salt.

Is Fchat running on MySQL? I've found the scalability of MySQL to be pretty lacking when it comes to high transaction/high volume environments. I've never been comfortable with it's enterprise-class stability. Does your host have CAL's for MS-SQL2000? Would the board run on a proper SQL database or even better on something like DB2 for Intel or Oracle?

FWIW, I did mention to you a while back that the MYSQL database and Vbulletin software would start falling over all the time if you continued to store all images on your server.
As mentioned before, this has happened to other forums as well, your problem is not unique. Thiey have resolved the problem by trimming the database and ceasing the hosting of further images locally.

This has nothing to do with it. Our images aren't stored in the database.

MySQL of course isn't as slick as Oracle or DB2 or SQL server. MySQL is just freeware and works great for small applications. We are still pretty small compared to Enterprises. vB can't work on any Db but MySQL right now, but the software is expanding and the company is doing well, so there may be some other options in the coming years.

Hey, at least we're one BIG step up on the old software and a flat file system. :)

Does it store an index for the images?

So the answer is yes, it does create an index of stored images.

After every time I post it comes up and gives an error message. However, when I go back and reload the page, it shows that my post has gone through.

Also, although there are several newer threads in a certain forum, it still shows on the main page older threads as the as the most recent / updated (even though they aren't). So for some reason, newer posts on threads aren't showing up on the main home screen.

MySQL has been upgraded to the latest 4.0.20 version. I will let you know how many of our problems this solves. Shouldn't take long to find out as we were getting corrupt data every 3-4 hours and the server would go down every 1-2 days.

    Thanks for you patience,
    rob

Looks like the database (server) is still having issues. Maybe the traffic spike after the USGP got to it?
(I especially like the DB error while trying to search for the thread about DB errors -- how Orwellian. ;) )

A big problem with Saturday was I had such little access in Indy and didn't do a Db cleanup as quick as I usually do. Everything should be clear right now. I am disappointed the Db upgrade hasn't resolved some of our corruption issues. I'm still working on the root causes and getting closer.
