Have you tried asking the guys over at www.tomyang.net ???
They concentrate on the older cars and follow Tom's ongoing restoration.

    I would proceed like so:

    1. Call the known breakers in the Ferrari world, Petroske, Shaughnessy, etc.
    2. Keep an eye out for auctions or internet sources (saved searches on e-bay) to locate a car that is a basket case and thus mostly good as a donor. Not a good choice if you care about preserbation of the species
    3. Post on tomyang.net
    4. Ask some of the better mechanics on west or east coasts. They will have leads or something out back...
    5. Wanted ad in FML, FCA, FerrariAds
    6. .....Prepare for sticker shock (or forget the whole thing, get a nice Camry for the same $)

As previously posted, try Tom Shaughnessy 949-366-6211....

    Good luck,
    Bill

I fear you may find that a complete 250 or 330 engine.... long block with carbs, exhaust and everything.... is likely to cost you as much as a complete car for restoration. Ive seen engines like this advertised for $25K+ and I have seen 250GTEs in need of total restoration sell for the same or less.

You know what old man Ferrari used to say; "when you buy a Ferrari, you are paying for the engine. The rest you get for free". Well in this case, you may want to take that literally!
