There is a guy i know (sort of, we have shared the same Ferrari dealer for many years, he is also a lawyer, etc) who has a whole range of cars: ferrari, bentley, anything money can buy he can acquire, drive and enjoy. His bid for best all around car, no hassles, great fun to drive, cool enough for image purposes (and, with all the iron he has in his garage, he doesn't need to worry about image) is a C-5 convertible. I would suspect that they are gettable pretty cheap with the replacement due, that GM has offered interest-free financing (don't know what the incentives are) and that you could probably enjoy this car with a minimum of fuss. He claims it gives him everything he needs: power, some luxury, comfort, top down, aggressive style and good ol' 'Merican standards of reliability and maintenance cost. I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive one.

The xB is one of the three ugliest vehicles currently on the market.

I am conflicted and cannot put them in rank order. (They are all rank!)

    Pontiac Aztek
    Honda Element
    Scion xB

I have a 2000 gts red just like the one posted eailier but with the newer mags, vipers will draw a crowd and they are wickedly fast, but they are not everyday cars, especially here is san antonio with the humidity, having owned two corvettes in the past, get the corvette. I think they still have a 2000 or 2001 black cont for 30k on san pedro. you could talk them down to 27! easy.

Disagree with that statement.Have owned 31 Vipers, and logged over 200k miles.Have had every year, and every type.It depends what your looking for,but an everyday driver they are,if you choose them to be.

31 Vipers? Wow... what's the story behind that? Even if you started when they first came out, that's buying and selling a Viper every 4 months for 10 straight years?!!?!?!

I agree to disagree, Can I drive mine everyday, yes! do I? No, Of course one of my stores was in the getto side of town so it wouldnt be smart to drive it there everyday, you would have no problem with the mechnicals, they are pretty good cars, but I think he lives, works on a military base (thats not on the best side of town), and I wouldnt leave a viper parked outside overnight there. plus they are a little impractical for everyday use for some people. Not you I guess!

He said he wanted a corvette or a boxter so if I had to chose between those two, I would pick the corvette they are fun, fast. and cheap.

I've had an S4s for 3.5 years/20k miles. It has 72k miles on it now. The Esprit is reliable and simple but not such a practical daily car IMHO. I was almost daily my first year but I think I enjoy it more as a weekend/rare commuter. All my reading at FerrariChat suggests that maintenance is probably about 1/2 348/355 numbers at the dealer. I averaged about $1k/yr until this year, which will be around $4k (30k service, fix an oil leak, change cam timing, clutch, probably front upper ball joints).

    Rough figures for dealer service:
    30k service: $1750
    Clutch/pressure plate: $1500
    15k service: $750

S2000 is the best buy right now. You can find used 2000-2001 S2000's in the hight teens to low 20's right now in Michigan right now. You know maintenance costs will be reasonable with the Honda too. I have driven both Corvette Convertibles and a Porsche Boxster S. Even though the Vette is much faster I found the Boxster S was more fun and rewarding to drive. I have logged about 1000 miles on two different Corvette convertibles. Both had 6 speed manuals and both were extremely fast. Corvette drivetrains are very reliable but everyhting else on them is not. I don't know much about the Boxtsers reliability though. Either way whichever car you choose you will enjoy driving it and that is what is most important.

I would get a Boxster S over a Corvette, I feel it connects with the driver more. I was gonna say Elise, but you already replied to that. The S2000 is a GREAT car. What about a Porsche 911 993? Or if you want a sedan, a great car is the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO. Or if you want to save money (or put it into tuning) there's always the Dodge Neon SRT4, and the Mazdaspeed Miata.
