Just thought I'd introduce myself and say hello to the regular posters on Technical Q&A. I'm in the UK and imported a 1975 208 GT4 from Italy 2 years ago. I've had 1 major service on it, including a gearbox rebuild, and have done the rest of the work myself including: New Clutch cable. Replaced Headlight pod after a slight altercation with a van...ouch! Changed Gearbox oil a few times - the synthetic stuff really helps. Carried out a normal service - Oil, filter, air filter, brakes etc. Fixed Camshaft Oil Seal. Fixed various electrical faults on lights and dials. I enjoy working on my car because it's really well engineered, and actually fairly simple compared to modern cars. I'm currently trying to sort out a rough running problem at high engine loads, which I think is due to cross firing of cyls 7 & 8. I've also got a Porsche 928S which I'm trying to bring back from the dead. Anyway, since I've already been posting for a couple of days, I just thought I'd say hello and thanks for the help given so far.
Welcome, Peter and I are on the other side of the pond and even though we are in the same country he is probably just as far from me as you are! I've only seen one other 208GT4 here in Toronto, blue with cream/blue interior. Very interesting to see the subtle differences between a 208 and 308 GT4.
A friend of mine - "Ferrari Willi" - has a 208GT4. Somehow it made it to the US w/o any mods (lights, smog, bumpers, etc.) whatsoever. Being somewhat lighter and geared differently, it keeps up with 308s to perhaps 80mph. Quite amazing, really. It's his daily driver.
