Dave, his first attempts were OBVIOUSLY A SCAM... however, we may have scared him enough in this thread to make him send you another key. It looks like his father or relative owns the high end aftermarket place and that's maybe how he got them.

    1) He lied about his identity when he first joined Ferrari Chat (so he should be banned ASAP)
    2) He lied about his first auction... by making a fake sale of $1999 (gee... unpaid... surprise surprise!! PLEASE!!!)
    3) He tried to rip you off in a major way!!!

This all sums up to a worthless liar. If we have convinced him to undo his latest rip off, then hats off to everyone on this thread. But he should still be reported to eBay and banned from F Chat.

    UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

O.K. everyone here is what's happening. It seems that the power of F-Chat is an amazing thing.

It seems some resourceful F-Chatters found out the seller's father's email address and have emailed his father! and others have been emailing him directly. A quote from the seller's email to me reads:

"The amount of email thats coming in is disgusting and I have people THREATINING me. I don't like this and I want that ENTIRE thread deleted ASAP before I have to take action myself against these people."

The seller has assured me that he has sent the Enzo key via UPS overnight (my account #). He gave me a tracking number at this point it's not coming up as a being able to track a package against it. The UPS tracking program reads:

Unable to track shipment "Tracking # He Gave Me is written Here".
We could not find information for this Tracking Number. Make sure the Tracking Number is correct and try again. (1044)

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and going to try and track it again in a few hours (maybe it hasn't been scanned yet). I also emailed him back letting him know the tracking number didn't work.

Guys, the seller seems very shook up by all of this and the pressure put on him and his father by the F-Chat Community has been incredible (scary). As I had mentioned in my last post, he really seems like he's trying to make good on the deal.

For now, I ask all of my F-Chat brothers/sisters to hold all further actions, emails, enquires, etc. with the seller until we have confirmation of what the he has promised.

Thanks to all......again I WILL KEEP EVERYONE POSTED!!

    QUICK UPDATE

O.k. the plot thickens. After all of the remorse the seller has shown and after I called off the F-Chat Team of detectives.

The UPS Tracking number is still not tracking anything!!!! It says the number is incorrect. I have emailed him twice to have him verify the number. No response.

Yikes! too much drama....STAND BY FOR THE CONCLUSION TO THIS SAGA (Hopefully by 10:30am PST)

UPS will take some time to have it register. Relax, wait a few hours, see what happens.

Journey into the mind of a scammer:

“I know… I know Dad! I got caught… But if you look at the bright side we can sue a bunch of F-car owners for slander and extortion! We will make more than mom when she backed into that old blue-hair at the red light and claimed whiplash. “

“Dad can I borrow the key to your Celica and that can of red paint? “

    Letter from E-Bay:
“Dear scammer It has been brought to our attention that you have been discovered by outsiders to be a con artist. Unfortunately at this time we have no choice but to terminate your employment with E-bay as an EUSA Operative (E-Bay Undercover Scam Artist). We must deny your affiliation with E-bay and cease any further con opportunities with you. As you know auction scams provide a vital source of revenue for us and we cannot allow further exposure that will jeopardize our shareholders. We regret this decision and wish you luck with your future employer …McDonalds.”

Wait until later tonight, around 9 or 10pm your time and the tracking # should be in the system by then. SOMETIMES it does not hit the system until later at night.

I LOVE Ebay, but with that said, I have been lucky to have never been scammed. I agree, once it becomes common knowledge that Ebay has little teeth or incentive to improve security, the company and it's stock is going to take a nose-dive. Watch and see. It may still be a couple years out, but it will likely happen; unless they get serious about fraud.

Oh boo hoo! The kid wants his name taken off the internet?? Try crying a little more and see where that gets you.

I'm one of the people who contacted his father. This LOW LIFE is a triple time offender as I posted above.. and that's just what I've personally discovered! Who knows how many other people this little brat has or has tried to rip off!!

I'm sorry, but he gets no sympathy in my book.

The UPS tracking number will not show up for a while. Once somebody has lied as often as this low life has, I take nothing he says to be true anymore. However, I think because of his daddy's connection and the presssure put on him here he just may be able to come through. But I have my doubts.

A couple of years ago I got ripped off on Ebay - for a $2500 Rolex.

The money was wired and the guy - TROY LAIR (I call him Troy the Liar) - claimed that his secretary had mailed the watch out. Weeks went by - with lots of lies and no watch. I eventually contacted the IFCC and the LA Police, but no one would do anything.

Troy has moved and changed his phone number, but you never know. At the time, Troy lived at:1232 and 1/8 Cahuenga Boulevard in Los Angeles. His cell phone number was (323) 309-4146. For a while I left nasty messages on his voicemail, he never called me back, he evenutally disconnected the number.
His Email address was [email protected] and his ebay account name was MaryHelenofTroy. Those accounts appear active. I occasionally write him a nice note thanking him for stealing my money.

Let's see if the power of FChat can reach out and nab Good, old, Troy. I could use the $2500!

    Best wishes,

    Scottie

I miss the old eBay. It was a lot of fun back in the old days (pre-2001 or so) before the scammers and deadbeats found it. Now, I wouldn't touch it for a million bucks. (Well maybe for a million but not a penny less.)

The sad part is that eBay could easily curb much of this by simply listening to its users. But to do that they'd have to hire people and that would violate eBay's "no customer service" policy. That will never happen.

    Update

The seller had emailed me about 6 emails asking to have this thread removed and his name cleared. He says he shipped the Enzo key via UPS overnight. I tried the tracking number earlier and it didn't work. I will give everyone the final conclusion to this story at 10:30 am PST tomorrow and will post the outcome, etc.

Thanks again F-Chat Community for the incredible support.....

STAND BY!!!... THE CONCLUSION IS NEAR........ (HOPEFULLY)

news update: JunR got arrested by the US Customs for a package of marijuana shipped via UPS from an unknown sender in Canada. J/K

as a precaution, have a witness with you want you open the box. or video tape the whole thing (UPS guy comes deliver, unopen package, then you carefully x-acto knife the box, yadi yada, etc etc).

if he is a scammer he would either repeat the same thing, or send you a big surprise.

Good luck. Hope you get your key, and then we can all look for that stolen enzo key!

Doesn't Escrow exist in the States?

In the UK, ebay advise anyone purchasing expensive items (they say above £250) to use an escrow service. I believe they suggest a couple of independents.

Using an escrow would have stopped this mess from ever occurring as the cash is held by a third party until the goods are received.

When UPS comes to make the delivery tell the driver that you have had a problem with this shipper and that you would like to open the package while the driver stands there to be sure the product is inside. Don't sign for the package until after you see the key. If the key is not there tell the driver that you are not accepting the package.
