I just got my 75 gt4 re-registered here in California. And for the first time it is smog exempt!!!! All 1975 and earlier cars in CA are smog exempt January 1, 2004!! I have had my car for 10 years and I would lay in bed at night for months worrying about my next encounter with the smog guy. The car always passed but I had to suffer the indignity of a guy with one tooth and grease all over him grinding each gear as I watched helpless, It was worse than a sleep over at Neverland. Now I feel like one of those guys running through the fields on a Claritin comercial!!!
Im free! Im free. UH OH what are those red lights in my mirror... gotta go

    Rob
    :)

I know this is not really a tech thread but I feel more comfortable over here with you gearheads!

Ditto for my 1975 GT4, just sent in the check to DMV. The notice says: "no smog certificate required"

DonGT4 has been waiting patiently for his 75GT4 to be exempt to.

Rob, now go over to the other post to help out the fellow who is on the slippery slope of wanting to replace the timing gear bearings with the engine in the car. Show him the errors of his ways.

Robert, congradulations!!!! I am still in limbo registrationwise---tags due in April and still floating around with a temp tag, will go into California DMV very soon and attempt to get my permanent sticker. Mine is also a 75 GT4 and haven't had it registered without a temp since 96. Been waiting a long time for this moment. Smog equipment somehow fell off right after I bought it in 82.

Yelcab! You and I have been waiting awhile for this also! Ha ha. I feel like jumping for joy. GT4 going into the paint shop in Scottsdale AZ for a bare metal strip and complete new interior. Done with everything else mechanically. Suspension rebuild took me quite a while but was worth every penny.

No smog check at all here in So. OR.

I'm not sure what my old car would do if you jabbed a probe up its rear end.

When I bought my '85' 308 from an individual in Georgia, I noticed, at one time, he had trouble getting passed the emission test. But, I live in Alabama with no emission test, so no problem, thank goodness.

Here is MA, my 77 is exempt. Good bloody thing too. Anyone driving behind me gets tears in their eyes....from the exhaust, not the beauty of the car. Well, maybe both. :)

Glad you had another happy day...the title of the thread mislead me a bit.

There's a saying in the boating community...

The happiest day of a captains life is the day he buys the boat, The second happiest day of his life is when he sells it.

Glad this didn't equate to your Ferrari experience :)
