So this is how Pininfarina wants it to be, 1/2 the people hate it, the other 1/2 love it. :) The third 1/2 dont care either way :)

Ferraris should evict strong emotional response immediately upon first sight, but it should not be disgust. I love the classic GT styling, the 250GTO and California Spyder, the 275, and even the Daytona. The 400 series wasnt bad, either. The 550 started the downward slide at Pininfarina, but it wasnt ugly. The 456 itself was classy and nicely restrained, and the 456M was very pretty. Now we have the 612 Scagletti, which is supposed to evict memories of the Berlinetta Ingrid, but it has all the wrong proportions for a Ferrari. The super-short front overhang belongs on a Porsche 911, as do the headlamps. The scalloped sides are nice, but the long wheelbase means there are slab sides to distract the eye from the scoops. The tail isnt that bad, it looks like and evolution of the 575M tail, but it needs some visual detail, maybe have the exhaust stick out from holes in the bumper, or maybe a side exit pipe setup.
The engine cover needs some louvers or a small, restrained scoop like on the 550/575. The shoulderline is very plain, like something you could see on a Hyundai Tiburon. Also, the wheels look tiny, a result of the too-long wheelbase.

Thats all the critique if got for now, I may rant some more later...

    :)

I like it; I'm still waiting for a more LSD induced body, but that should be for a 2 seater, not 4.

I like the engine is painted red, thanks for sharing the photos.

It is a beautiful car 2+2. Though I still would not mind owning a 456M GT. I think the design is still sleek although it has been around since 1992,

I just got back from the LA Car Show tonight,

I was able to sit in the 612. It is beutiful in person. Much better than in photos. Its a quantum leap over the 456. It has a looooooong wheel base. This is a bad ass cruiser designed for someone that will use the car to live with not just play around. It will do zero to 60 in 4.2. It is probably the nicest 4 seat car I have ever seen. The only other really nice car is the new Bentley GT which at $150k msrp will be a car to have as well.

I would still take the 612 however. Don't knock it until you see it first hand.

BTW, The dash switches are really a nice, they are pure billet aluminun and rotate to the different settings and have a very heavy (nice feel). This is one classy machine.

Such a long car and prefer 550/575M rear than 612's
