My battery died - Going to get a new one - Quick question - When I took the old one out, it doesn't look like it is fastened down at all - Is this correct?

    Thanks

When I replaced mine it had a bracket that went from the front bottom and clamped the front top down. Sort of a metal doll rod with a hook at the bottom and a clamp and screw at the top.

1 bolt in front of the battery, by the base. Look closely at how the bracket fits before removing it.

Dave Helms is right. Mine is the short bolt and clamp that clamps the lower front edge of the battery.

My mistake on the doll rod (different vehicle).

There should be a sort of a rectangular hold-down clamp in front of the battery tightened by a nut and bolt mechanism at the center. (I'll try to snap a photo of mine sometime tomorrow (I'm at work right now) if
    nobody posts yet.

    Thanks Ron328 -

Is this the clamp you are referring to? I can't quite tell what is going on there - How is that keeping the battery in?

    Thanks so much!

There is a "lip" on the bottom of the battery, that clamp is catching that, and retaining the battery.

Thanks Dave - I have seen the lip (on both sides if I remember correctly, but don't have that retaining piece).

    *sigh*

Exactly. There is a recent thread that posted a close-up photo of the
clamp. It is available at Sodacom's (one of this site's sponsors).

    Good luck.

ferrari of uk has them if you can't find them here, BTW a battery jumping around is not a good thing as it reduces the life of it from vibration

Thanks guys - I was hunting around for the part on Ferrari of UK, but was unable to find it. Thanks for the Sodocom's reference - I found it there - The problem is, it is just the bracket - That looks like it fits on a bolt and then the nut goes on top - I don't remember having the bolt - Is the bolt welded to the battery shelf, or does it fit through a hole down there? I'll have to take a look in there again to see if there is some kind of hole to put the bolt through.

    Thanks
