How do you like them? Sound good? Where is a good place to purchase them?
I have an Ansa on my 77. It came with the car, so I assumed it was the stock exhaust. It sounds nice...loud enough while driving to sound like a Ferrari should, but not so loud as to be annoying or to call too much unwanted attention from the police. It is not as loud as the tubi exhausts I have heard. Unfortunately, I have had no other exhaust on the car, so I can't offer a comparison to anything else. Birdman
I have a Tubi competition only muffler on my 308 which is loud loud. My wife has a BMW turbo M as her daily ride which had a fantastic snarl... I say "had" because she thought it was too loud, so I installed an Ansa exhaust and now it is just right for her. Around my house the Ansa is referred to as the girlie muffler.
I have an ANSA on my 78 308 (US Spec). Sounds great! That low grumble when low RPMs, while still approaching that Formula 1 wail (as much as a 308 can over, say, a 355) when 6000+. Engine is slightly freeer reving that with stock exhaust. Note that having an ANSA, at least the ones that I'm familiar with, imply having no cats ("Catless" exhaust.) It is louder than stock... And, say after 1 hour of cruising at around 3k RPMs with the top on and windows up, some may find the noise annoying. --Mike
I used to have an ANSA on my 78 308 but it rusted out. They sound and looks good. The problem with the ANSA is that it is designed for the EURO cars so you must modify it to mate up with the hangers on the US car. Custom brackets were welded to my muffler so it would mate with the stock hanger. I went with a tubi this time which bolted right on.
My '82 Euro 308 GTS QV came with ANSA. I love it, gives the right balance between interior engine sound & loudness with the windows up. Can really wail when you're passing under an overpass or in a tunnel & have the revs up! Several people have commented on it being 'the loudest Ferrari they've ever heard', but when questioned they haven't heard a TUBI. The ANSA sound is a smoother, less raspy sound than the TUBI.
ANSA USA is here in GA and they stock both US and Euro mufflers---the big difference is there the tail pipes come out--one is shorter that the other.
I've got an Ansa aftermarket muffler on my GT4. Unfortunately, I think it sounds like a 4 cyl. Some people have commented that it sounds a little "rice"-like. The Stebro sounds like a proper V8. But it's a lot louder than the Ansa.
Hans, No matter how hard you try, you're just not going to get that 8-cylinder sound out of a 4-cylinder car, no matter what exhaust you put on it... It's a GT "4" after all!
Ansa on my 77 and it sounds great. Great city snarl with not to much noise at 70mph. Looks good and works for me.
Here's a shot of (now Mike P.'s) "cat-less", non-stainless steel ANSA silencer FE2040 (USA 4-tips) for '78/'79 308GTB/S (originally purchased circa 1989):
Don't know for sure, but it might actually be the other way around now -- i.e., might be that only $tainless is now available, and you can't get the earlier (before ANSA got banned from the US aftermarket by F), more-reasonably priced non-stainless versions. Also could be that there'd be a version that replaces the silencer only rather than the silencer and cats. Any info on available ANSA materials from your ANSA contact atlantaman?

I have an ANSA (ca. 1884) on my 1976 308 GTB. I'm pleased with it for similar reasons as Mike's. The older ANSAs, like mine, were Euro and had to be modified to fit US spec cars. The new ones look a bit different. Barry Here's mine:
Have I looked at their prices for what? Exhausts? No, I haven't. Not sure why you assume they're twice as high as others. But I know Norwoods very well, my car has been there more times than I care to discuss. I'm simply suggesting he call and ask.
