    The Hassler is my favorite. Pricey but worth it.

    How close do you need to be? I did the hotel in front of the Trevi fountain for around 200 a night in the off season, pretty romantic and as good as anywhere else I stay.

    I second the Hassler. Perfect locale, very old world and wonderful views of Rome from the rooftop restaurant.
