Mako99 mentions the value of cutting edge opinions (or something to that effect) on the board having value. I agree that unbiased and accurate opinions are what makes the exchange on this board so valuable, sometimes the biased ones are valuable too for the sake of showing two sides to a coin if for no other reason. It broadens ones spectrum.

With that aside, the point of this post.
Mako99, you will never come to this site and find a bunch of circle jerking Fcar enthusiasts chanting that Ferraris are the only good cars in the world or 308's are the best. It is EXTREMELY rare that I see more than two agree about anything. This site will NEVER be a place of mutual stroking either. If you have been lurking as long as you say you have then you would know this by all of the scrapping and bickering that goes on here all the time, and all this WITHOUT Allen.

Bring on the opinions! The more the better! But NOWHERE at NO TIME is it acceptable to directly insult a persons credibility or intelligence to prove a point. There is a thing called RESPECTING THE DIFFERENCES between us.

    The point?
The reason a number of people dislike Allen is because he is insulting and demeaning towards people that have different opinions or prefer different cars. Allen may be the most knowledgeable person on the planet but if he can't be civil in an exchange then he is going to get slapped.

    MAKO! IT'S ABOUT RESPECT!

Here is another word, TACT, Tact is the knack of making a point without making an enemy.

So maybe where you come from it's better to just get in a guys face and stomp his ***** to prove your point but don't expect a warm welcome from the grown-ups the next time you show your face.

Of course all of the above is just my humble opinion as a result of past experience in the REAL world and given only with the RESPECT THAT IS DUE. IT'S A TWO WAY STREET.

WOW! I just broke a thousand! WOOOHOOO!

Balance is good, looking through rossa corsa glasses isn't reality. Allan sometimes is a good balance for the FerrariChat.com community. That I appreciate. Sometimes he's just a terrorist. That I would kick his ass if I saw him in person or ban him if he keeps it up online.

hmm...allan, is it not possible to just sell off the 355, get the gallardo, and keep it? couldnt you bring it to the mainland? should tide you over and give you a lot of fun, and if you sell it, maybe it will be like a 360, where in 2-3 years you sell it for what you paid:) Also, why do you want the diablo with the murcielago? maybe the answer is wait for the M-SV?

I think the GT3 and the 996 TT are almost identical from a performance standpoint. The GT3 is 380HP vs 420 but is lighter. Also it is NA, rear wheel drive and a more visceral experience. I would go with the GT3.

I agree with "Mako99". Allanlambo has posted some of the most interesting and knowledgeable posts on this site. Most of the disputes on this site are great entertainment and shouldn't be taken so seriously.

I personally would like to know facts not wishful thinking. Ferrari's are not always the fastest especially when it comes to bang for the buck. Ferrari's are also probally one of the most un-reliable cars in the world.

I have found my Ferrari ownership experience of one of love and hate. It's always nice to hear opinions from people with real experience.

IMHO,there's no room for "Political Correctness" on the Internet. We get too much of that crap shoved down our throats as it is. When is it ever going to end? When are Adults going to start acting like Adults again, and just ignore things that they don't like, instead of Whining about it like a Child? "Whaah!! I'm OFFENDED by That! Whaah!!" Just like TV. If you don't like it,change the channel. Everybody has the right to express their opinion, just as everyone has the right to either agree,or,disagree. But,you really can't Knock someone for expressing their opinion. Like a belly button. Everybody has one. There are no Right or Wrong answers. I mean, whatever happened to "Majority Rules?" In this day and age. Just because one person,or a very small group of people are "Offended",we have to change something? Thats a crock of sh*t! (My opinion :) )

    I agree, good post.

    wax:

Trust me, telling Bruce to stop being a little girl as he is with his caps-binge and asinine comments is me holding myself back mightily for the sake of the crowd here. Plus I could give a ****, I just want info on the cars from as many valid opinions as possible, so it serves no purpose for me to start a back and forth game with anyone.

But I will say again for those not raging about internet car board posters (lol!!!) I meant no disrespect to either Allan or DES, and to quote myself, I said that F-chat is a "better place WITH DES". I do believe that, simply because this is a fansite afterall, and the passion is nice to see in context.

    Frank,
    All true!

As for the topic at hand...IMO the way this thread started was intentionally harsh (for no reason). I also think life is too short, just to be a "Sh*t stirrer!" No point to it at all! I guess it just floats some boats!

I agree that there is a difference between just being a stroke, and expressing your opinion.(Generally speaking) But,where do we draw the line? When does Censorship begin? These days,it's getting harder to say.:( If,say, there are 1000 people on here. And,1 says that they are 'offended'? Do we then change,or ban something? Or,perhaps,5-10? 100? (1 out of 10?) Or,do we wait until there are 501? (The Majority) And,especially on the Internet. I am pretty new to the Internet,(Old Fossil prodded into it by my 12 year old Daughter. And,I discovered that I like it,and why the Hell did I wait so long. Thanks, mostly to this Venue. Thanks,Rob!!) But,one day,I'm innocently Surfing, and what pops up? (Literally) But,XXX Porn! I'm thinking,"Good thing I caught this before my Daughter sees it....Wait a minute...I'm sure that this isn't the first time that it's Popped up". I asked her, and,a Fathers worst fears confirmed. So,I get on the phone to my ISP,threatening to Sue them,"I'm going to drive down there and kick your asses!", and Blah,Blah,Blah. They just tell me,"It's the INTERNET,Pal. DEAL WITH IT! Nothing we can do about it". But,they did instruct me as to how to adjust my security settings so that it didn't happen again. (Words and pictures) And,I have since gotten a few different "Cleansers" installed. But,"You just don't know what you gonna get...on the Internet!" I,personally, welcome diverse thoughts and opinions. What a sh*tty world this would be if we all thought the same. Or,worse. Were TOLD what to think. 'Big Brother' will be coming,if we don't watch out! It's already started! :( (O.K.,I'm gonna fire up the Hookah, and watch some old 'Kung Fu' Re-runs.:) )

EllEn is an educated occasionally well intentioned person who come off as hating Ferraris. This s a Ferrari forum. What kind of accomodation should he expect. If anything we let him off to easily.

DES, on the other hand, is clever, witty, and makes us laugh. A worth addition to this forum even if he does not own a Ferrari. He plays the part

Ellen does not. And the best think about Ellen is the IGNORE feature in the new software.

I have been out of the country for a few days so this is my first time to see the thread.
I gotta tell you all, I love this guy! The fact that we disagree on many items here, is one thing that continues to bring me back top the board so frequently! Also, It isnt like I disagree with everything he says, much to the contrary, I only RESPOND to the things that I dont agree with.
As for his personal attacks, yes, he WILL attack and terrorize! If this is enough to bother you, (something you read on the net from a completely unknown person, you are sad.
The board would be less without him.

The Gt3 is cool, but, the Turbo is far easier to mod. 550 hp is easily obtainable with chip, exhaust and air filters. More interesting to me than a Gt3.

Now that you're back I have a question for you about your 348. When you were debating going the FI route with it, why didn't you just sell it and go with a N/A 355?

The Norwood setup had to be costly, and I'd imagine that would make the price diff between the two negligible. Plus I'd be willing to bet that even with the turbo running well, the tangible performance differance between the two isn't very much.

    Just curious.

    Good qustion.
First, the car was already turbo`ed when I bought it.
I actually prefer the looks of the 348 to the 355. Just a personal preference. I`ve been lucky to drive a few 355s. I love those cars.
YES, the Norwood setup would be expensive to do from scratch on my car. If I had to do it again, it would depend only on how I wanted to use the car. In it`s current state of tune, it is faster than the 355, but not in another league, actually for daily driving, quite comparable, as you stated. The BIG difference is tuning availablity. The car can be tuned for LOTS more power, but there would no doubt arrise some other issures if I turned up the boost. I love the way the car drives now, the way it sounds feels and looks. Most likely won`t change it soon.
The Norwood system on my car has been quite reliable, not perfect but very good. Probably, again, comparable to a 355......

On the subject of Norwoods, there is an article in the new Forza magazine on the Twin Turbo TR. Not getting into bashing, but the pictures clearly illustrate what i had brought up earlier, which is craftsmanship. They detail lots of piping, intercoolers etc. The welds, look like they were done by a blind man. Huge welds, with big drips etc. Inmo, if i were to pay the 85,000 conversion price, id atleast want to see nice craftsmanship.

~These carboards are not here for everyone to come over and have a giant self-fulfilling circle-jerk contest telling each other how smart we were for buying F-cars and banishing anyone that doesn't agree with the plan.~

Think you have it backwards ~ that's exactly what this board is about.
