The speed limit for the French Quarter Classic varied

according to the limit of your car!!!!!

Actually, I had a very embarrasing moment while escorting with the police.

On the escort back to the track, Franco and I were trying to help the police move traffic out of the way. At one point I noticed a Cadillac Escalade, in the escort at a point were we were doing about ____.

I sped up to him, mad as hell, hit the lights on the Ferrari and hung my badge out the window (dont ask).

Well I force this guy out of the escort and over to the slow lane, lights flashing, badge waving, only to find out he is a crew member of one of our guests. Yikes. Man when I calmed down, I really felt supid. I realized how silly I looked. Here is a grown man hanging out of a window of a Ferrari Police Car, badge waving, lights flashing, seriously threatening this guy- I must have looked like a total idoit) Imagine, at some point my twisted brain actually thought that was a good idea.

LMAO!!!!!!! Only in New Orleans could that be possible! I was riding with Dave Goldman on the way back and we actually had a few cars that were trying ot slow us down. Eventually we lost Franco and his friend but continued our "pace" pretty much the whole way back. One huge SUV tired to play hero and stop us and a TR following us. As we rode by you could tell the guy was on the phone with the police complaining about us. I wonder how that conversation went.........:)

It must be a scary thing to have a Ferrari chasing you off the freeway...lights and all :)

John, it depends on which Porsche you have ? A Porsche TT will run away from either the 355 or 360 like they were sitting still.

a ferrari pursuit car would be awesome, but it'd really suck when you have to PIT someone who still wouldn't stop.

    Hey John,

I was heading home from downtown following the track day and saw Franco on I-10 east bound, lights going and a train of ~25-30 Ferraris behind him. I couldn't help but laugh, as I knew that the train was about to hit traffic in about 2 miles. You guys had just crested the Vets ramp and things were pretty well stationary by Causeway.

Then, as I approached the Williams exit, I saw one of the Parish's finest, with, I believe, the Players Run F40 pulled over. Unfortunately, I was out of memeory and batteries from the shoot at the track. :-( Would've made a great photo.

John, it was a hoot to follow you around the track for the, uh, family session. You guys certaintly have fast families, ha!

Actually, the most un-nerving thing was to see the blue lights in the mirror from the real police during the run to the track. Never got used to that. I kept wondering why the V1 had not gone off!

Hmmm... you guys might want to pitch Hollywood about a TV series based in the Crescent City. How about "Cajun Vice?" Or, maybe, NOPD 50?

Probably the coolest part of riding to the track was watching Ferrari police cars control traffic... :)

That is awesome. John, that would have been a sight to see!

Just don't try to run any new S600s off the road in your 355, you won't catch them.;)

there are also some ferrari's that can outrun any porsche around..the difference is that these are BASE MODEL ferrari's of their time..compare a 360 to a 911 coupe and well see who wins

compare an enzo to a Carrera GT or 911TT and well see who wins

Good point... let's have an 1991 911TT vs a Norwood 348TT - that would be closer than a TT to a stock NA ferrari.

As a historical note, in the late 60's or early 70's (I can't remember) the police in Italy actually had a high speed pursuit team that drove Ferrari's.

We've done several "unofficial tests" in the real world between a 360 and a TT at top speeds. The TT is downright scary at 170 plus. With the 360 you could fall asleep at the wheel and end up in Baton Rouge. Steady as a rock. For real life highspeed cruising the Ferrari is safer/faster. . . .

and lets not talk about once the police escort got you to the track.

(I know I'm starting it now!)
