What track is that? I know it. I've seen it before, but I'm sitting here wracking my brain....UGH! Dave
I have always liked the 928, but had heard growing up that Dad's gave the 928 to their sons and always went back and got a 911. Luv the sound of the car though.
Try this one for sound!!!!!!!!! pay attention to who gets passed. http://www.lad.lv/~martini/porsche/Videos/928passingferarri.mpeg I'll take my 928's sound over any jag. and the performance, interior, ......... T
928 are hot, i bought my first one 16 years ago at age of 21, and am on my third one now, a GTS 5speed, timeless looks, really strong engine, great build and smooth handling, nothin else quite like them even today!
It's funny - I'm going through a phase where it seems everywhere I see references to 928's (even on TV and such)... what was it that made them such great cars?
{average model numbers, some years are quicker} 288 php and 302 ft/lbs for starters. 0-60 in 6.8 secs with an auto. Reaching 152 mph bone stock. With a big 5.0L and lightning quick with well known Porsche handling. It's a fine car.
The 1991 Porsche Lotec 928 had like 470 bhp at 6000 rpms and 480 ft/lbs and almost hits 200mph. They are quick. I know a guy who has one.
DOH!! Thanks Dave. I really hate that, when it's right there on the tip of your tongue but won't come out. GRRRRR! Shoulda watched the little details of the video better lol! Dave
In my case 310 stated HP but seen many places quotes of 330, its a euro. 160+ bone stock and quicker than your quote. Like steve said, whose gts has 370ft/lbs and a 5.1 0-60 BTW, looks as fresh today as it did when at the dealer. Built like a panzer and the best driving position there is. You can drive almost lying flat, i've sat in the beautiful 360 and the 550 and driven the other porsches and their driving position is like driving a greyhound. Ryalex, if you show up to one of the NE rides this year maybe you can find out. T
Here is an interesting 928 interior; just change the colors slightly; http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1680 T
It depends which year and which letters follow 928, like an '84 S, 4.7L, 16 valve, 310 hp, 295 ft/lbs, 10.4:1 CR, top speed 155, 0-62 in 6.2 sec.
A general statement that's not quite accurate in my view. A greyhound? I'll find an interior picture of a greyhound for you.
Well lets see, I have sat in or driven - 911's late 60's to present day (includes 993, 996 variants), 360, 550/575, and 944 (not as much as the others.) My comment was on the ergonomics of the driving position. You understood that, right? The 928 is a very low car to begin with, add to that the short distance from the factory recaro seat deck to floorboard. I like most 928 drivers i know of drive with my arms at almost full extension, it is talked about at length in one of the porsche sales manuals. Quite relaxing. And unlike the 550 and 360 which have higher dashboard/instrument clusters the 928 has a low dash and very low hood which is exactly why its called THE SHARK. So no not a general statement but exactly what i have experienced 1st hand. To recline to an equal degree in either 360 or 550 your head would be getting cooked by the engine and you would not see the road. T
My comment was on the comparison of a greyhound bus and "other porsches". You understood that, right?
What else is there other than the 911's and 944's. I've seen enough girls driving boxsters to tell that they aren't really reclined too much. T
There's the picture of a drivers seat in a greyhound bus. Tell me it looks like any Porsche drivers seating. http://www.prevostcar.com/eng/produits/virtual.htm What else is there? Are you being snobby or do you not know the Porsche model list? Now that I read your post again I can tell you are being arrogant. {Just so you know, I held back words from this post.} Bye.
I hate driving in a reclined position. I like to be firmly stuck in my seat with my arms at al almost 90 degree bent angle. Its the best for having total of the car, and it prevents you from having to hold onto the steering wheel for support in a turn. I have sat in a 928 a few times, and they are very comfortable, but for some reason I just dont like to recline much. I do LOVE the 928s though for the same reasons you guys mentioned. Id say its possibly the best kept bargain secret in sports/exotic cars. Quite a bang for the buck!
