I've been debating getting a vanity plate, but Dave Quick turned me on to this http://www.wslem.com/plates.shtml And a good cause to boot.

My LEO friends say that most officers would cut you a break if you sported these plates (no gaurantees). I have also heard that there is a contingent of "cop haters" out there that may vandalize a car with these, as some wackos just hate cops and this implies you are either a cop, a family member is, or you are just a "suck up"...count me in the latter. :) I added my name to the "intend to purchase" list...might mean I get a low number...which might imply I am more sincere than the doofus who gets one a few years later.

BTW, they are not available yet...only petitioning the Dept. of Licensing to allow it.

Applied for mine and received confirmation today. Too bad the car is not here yet - guess, it'll go onto the 360. When it does, the new tag "STRDALE" will go on...

    Kuzi,

From the time I mailed in the form/check, to when I actually received the new metal plates in the mail, was almost exactly 3-weeks.

    "NSU" :

    "Never serviced, 'ulp..."

Actually, this was a completely random plate. Just my luck. Might head back to a DOL office for a more generic tag.

Hi guys. Hope you don't mind a Chicagoan butting in here. On my 1981 308GTSi,I have N LUVN IT. (and,Lovin' it!) As,thats how I feel when I am driving in my Ferrari. I've had that plate for 3 years...before McDonalds corp.who's World HQ just so happens to be about a mile away from my house...came up with their I'm Lovin' it Slogan. And,on my Vette,I have,in honor of Dale Earnhardt, VIVA NO 3 . Always thought that XAHHTIC would be a good one. Feel free to use any of these if you want. I don't plan on moving out to Washington, but, have an old buddy down in Kennewick that I may go out and visit, soon.

There is a 400/412 I've seen around NW Portland with "ENZO" on the plate.

Personally, I prefer being a bit more anonymous-- no vanity plates for me.

Does anyone have front license plates mounted? I have never been given a hard time about mine missing. I would'nt know where to correctly mount it on my 87' 3.2 Cabrio anyways.

I would say that about 70% of the club members do NOT have a front plate. You take your chances, but I have never been stopped in my previous 308 or current 328, and I drive 9 to 10k miles per year. The best excuse I have heard is to say "officer, sorry, Ferrari of Seattle has been on back order for months on these front brackets from ITALY, but tell me they are expected soon....I'll get it taken care of right away." Keep the front plate in the car and show it to them...and say if you had the bracket, you'd install it. :)

The worst that can happen is you get a non-moving violation,..maybe $100 or so...

I was driving a friend's ZO6 and got pulled over by WSP with no front plate. He gave me two choices... get a ticket or install the plate while he watched. I chose the latter, but Mr. Friendly Officer said a note was made in the "system" that if the plate were removed and the car pulled over again that a ticket would be issued. Needless to say, the front plate looked disgusting.

I highly doubt that such a "note" can be placed in their computer system for them to catch next time. We should ask officer "fde2blk" about that.... I would risk it anyway :) Worst is you get a ticket instead of another "warning".

I think the officer said that just to keep you from removing the plate as soon as he is gone.

    Thank You Marco!
I was told the plate on my car was a 70's era Italian plate.

My friend Robert purchased them from a guy in Belgium.

In Italy until the years '90 the plates they were all like yours.

The first two letters represented the province in which the owner of the car lived, only the province of Rome (capital of Italy) had the name of the province written for extended.

If it look the first photo attached you can see a photo of my first car (Autobianchi Y10 TURBO) that it had the following plate: Roma 82887T.

From 1994 for order of the European Community all the plates of the pertaining nations off UE had to be of type XX YYY XX where XX are two letters and YYY are three numbers like you can see from the second attached photo.

If you server other information I are here.

Since this thread is active today, here's a photo someone recently sent me of a Boxer in California.

Hummm.... that plate sure looks familiar, I think I've seen it somewhere else before.

    ;)

This was the best I could think of with Oregon's 6 char limit:
(Actually, I just recently switched to the blue Crater Lake photo plate...)

    Hi John,
If you wonder what some of your ideas might look like in Italian go to www.wordreference.com for translation. That is how I found mine although when asked I usually tell them it means "Spastic" in Italian.
