From time to time my girlfriend shows that she really resents my job. I am at my home office quite a bit, but I do get to travel. I encompass golf with business trips to Tempe (Where I am now for three days, staying at the Buttes resort), sunny S. CA where I can play golf and Oregon and Washington trips. In two weeks I leave for London, Munich and Vienna for a week. I really do miss her when I am gone. When traveling, I have fun and I NEVER visit strip clubs, etc. She is a great lady, but (IMO) ribbs me a bit to much on where I get to go and reminds me of the fact that she has to stay home and run her own business.....Am I alone here?

i work about 4-6 hours a week, spend all my time around models and celebs and never take my girlfriend to parties because she has school and can't miss work. that pisses her off. she suspects i am doing loads of fun naughty things with the girls, but when she gets jealous, she gets frisky. she is only 20, i have to chalk it up to the age difference of 10 years.

CC: I give her the option to come many times. Coupled with her work schedule for her catering jobs and 'who will watch her daughter', it gets tough for her to get away.

    Peter....

Being a car guy can be difficult on relationships...my various GF's over the last 16 years and now my wife find it annoying sometimes, when you are working 6, and even 7 days as week and on occasion until 9-10pm.

I find that the best thing to do is to actually talk about it with her whenever I sense it is an issue... I 'confront' her nicely... I say something about it seeming like she resents it, then say I know that isn't really what the feeling must be because I know she cares... Etc...

Basically, I've found by acknowledging it is happening I let her know I am still paying attention to her too. Seems to help.

Does she not like your job or does she not like being left alone? There's a big difference.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have to sell the house or can you swing it?
I know it's a cliché, but you'll find another one; don't stay depressed.

BTW - good point about the difference between the job and just being left alone. In Tim's case, it's the job (hard gig, but someone has to do it :)), but in the other cases, it's being left alone that is the cause of friction.

Just politely remind her (especially if she's your wife instead of g/f) that when you're working 6-7 days a week, you're doing it for both of you (and the kids). If money grew on the tree out back, you'd stay home all the time!
