I have a 1982 308GTSi. Clock works great, except it's about an hour behind. However, the knob the re-set the clock is either stripped or not engaged, as turning it does nothing. Here are my questions...

    1. Can just the clock lens be removed so I can re-set the clock? If so, how does it come off?

    2. If I want to take the entire clock out, how does it remove? There are two small black screws in the dash area surrounding the clock. Is this how it removes?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry if this is too basic, but did you push it in & turn? Turning it does nothing, unless you push it in first. Again, sorry if you have had the car a long time & already know this.

Yes, removing the two screws should drop that panel down...then there is one or two thumb screws that retain the clock to the panel. If I were you, I would remove the clock, and send it to a repair shop, get if fixed properly so you can adjust it periodically (daylight savings time?) and not have to disassemble it for adjustment :).

Removing the lens is pretty tedious (but can be done) and you might mess up the retaining ring or the hands trying to move them.

You can send it to any number of repair shops and for around $100 they will fix it, replace the plastic lens with a fresh new one (they always get scratched up and foggy looking) and warranty it for a year.

I sent mine to Palo Alto Speedometer, but you could probably find someone in the yellow pages closer to you. Or ask your local dealer for suggestions.

    Disconnect power to the clock.

Then, when the time is correct, reconnect the clock!

My clock adjustment knob does not work either. I hate to spend $100.00 on such a (in my mind) trivial repair, so if you guys find someone that can do it for less, please post their name.

I just fixed the exact same problem with my clock ... 83 GTsi QV. The problem is almost as stated in the 1st note .. but it's not the the little push in bit that's stripped .. it's metal .. it's the plastic gear it goes into within the clock.

I did a real cheap fix ... I pulled the metal adjustment knob out ... squeezed the 'gear' bit that goes into the stripped plastic within the clock between some vice grips to flatten it. (CAREFUL ..looks like it could break real easy.) ... then pushed it back into the clock. Distorted bit gives just enough grip to adjust the clock. .. I know ... cheap cheap .. but have you checked the cost of a replacement!

I'm currently looking for another standard clock ..Pepboys etc ... that I can use the internal bits from and the external OEM bits.

Delaney, how did the metal adjustment knob "pull" out? You mean if you pull on it hard enough, it just comes out of the clock (and face) without damaging the clock?

I suspect my gears are stripped, too. It just feels that way.

The adjustment knob just pulled out. I've had the clock apart to try and clean the plastic, and it seems there's nothing other than an interference fit holding the adjuster in.

    > Hello, I am looking for someone to repair my Veglia Borletti 2" diameter
clock out of my car. The adjustment arm does not work (I think the gear
inside is stripped) and it needs a new lens. What would the approximate
    charge be for this?

Same question posed to Palo Alto Speedometer:
The way that we usually handle this type of a repair is that you would ship
your clock off to us for a free estimate. Once we have received it I would
open the clock up and call you to discuss what I have found. The average
repair price lies somewhere around $150.00 + UPS. This price of course
depends upon the condition of the clock, and which parts are needed to
repair it. We have most repair parts in stock and all of our work comes with
a 12 month warranty. The average turn around time is about 2 weeks + UPS
time, depending upon any unforeseen problems. If you decide to send us the
clock make sure to enclose a short cover letter with all of your
information, along with a brief description of the problem. We usually
arrange payment with Visa / Master Card or Discover Card over the phone.

    Our shipping address is :

    Palo Alto Speedometer, Inc.

    718 Emerson Street

    Palo Alto, CA. 94301-2410

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at all about this
    process or about our services.

Anyone know how to take this thing apart? It looks like you peel up the back side (lip) of the chrome bezel. Can anyone confirm this?

Does it in fact come apart by peeling up the back side of that chrome bezel?

    Maui, Hi
YES it does, i opened it up with a small flat screwdriver very carefully on the back of the bezzel, popped the foggy plastic off and used it as a template for the cd cover plastic, then use moto tool to cut and drill the hole for the stem, then replace, all the prymarks are on the bottom and hidden when installed on the console.

    Hello,

I had my 308 clock serviced at Bill's Clock Shop in (Fairborn) Dayton, OH. Sue was very helpful, and they did a great job. New lense, new winding stem, and gears, and good cleaning. It looks great and is keeping time perfectly. The prices look scary, but I think they do fine work.

    Good luck!
