1. Gendebien getting into the 330 TRI (0808) at LM 62. 2. Shelby and probably Alan Guiberson (in the passenger's seat) in 375 MM 0286 AM, probably in 1956 in California 3. Carroll Shelby again in John Edgar's 410 Sport (0596 CM), almost certainly at Palm Springs in 1956. I think that's Rod Carveth in the Aston DB3S. 4. Phil Hill in the 412 MI (0744) at the '58 Times Grand Prix at Riverside (one of the greatest US sports car races ever, incidentally) 5. 857S or 860 Monza, I think. In England?
Hey, Old Guy, might #5 be 0602M at the 'Ring in 1956 (Fangio/Castelotti)? The phot was apparently taken at the same time as photo #5 here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6094
Wayne, I'm sure you're right about 0602. I suppose I should have known that -- I used to own the engine in the late '70s/early '80s, and still have an intake valve I use as a paperweight (and it weighs a ton!). The case, as with almost all the 857/860 engines, had been patched where one or more rods made their getaways. The rev limit on these engines was something like 4600 RPM. O.G.
Pic 1 is indeed 0808TR at Le Mans 1962. Pic 2 is carrol Shelby in 0286AM in Torrey Pines 1955. #3 is Carrol again in 410 S #0598CM Palm Springs 1958. #4 is just right and #5 indeed is 0602M at the Nüburgring 1956. So well done the both of you. Actually I just wanted to show some nice pics.
