I was just looking in the manual. It says we have a 5 gallon reserve in our tank. How do we use that 5 gallon reserve?

Howdy Bart - Unlike a motorcycle or other vehicles where you have a valve to access the "Reserve", the 5 gallons mentioned in the manual is the amount of fuel that should be available after the warning light illuminates.

Please read the old 550 fuel gauge thread:

Be aware that among the many truths of Ferrari ownership are:

    1. Second gear synchros appreciate a few minutes of warmth to properly function and,
    2. Fuel gauges are almost useless and display in purely arbitrary manner

    Cheers!

    You are right about second.

It makes no sense about the reserve. I am going to the dealer about this.

    Bart:
I used it. I put 29.566 gal in one day. Ran 93 miles or so with light on. Dealer won't know squat. Dan and I and Dave have all sucked fumes, I went the farthest. Gauges are conservative, so we don't get stranded.
    Better than optimistic, actually.

Sure Lee, you just *have* to show that off again.

Bart: you can go 80 miles with the light on. I did 81 (damn you Lee!)

:D Hey, I got 8.4mpg on that tank...Think we need a GPH gauge instead of a fuel level.

I left ya the top 1/3 of the filler neck to beat me ;)

Gas is still so cheap here I leave it idling when I'm at work...paid 1.61 for 93 octane in Z8 today.

PS, glad you're still alive, Dan :)
