Hmm disappointed that they do not have the gated shift, does the 365 GT/4 2+2? I know you will be surprised but I actually prefer the looks of the 365 GT/4 2+2 and they share the same mechanicals. If I was to own a GTC/4 it would have to be a dark blue or even black. I did not realise that the GTC/4 was a 4 seater too ... now that is interesting. Pete
Joops' link at the top of this page is the Gstaad C4. http://www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/happenings/2003/december/gstaad_birner/text.asp 130,000 SFr (~$103k US)
None of the 2+2 models from 250 to 412i have a gated shifter. The 456 GT and M do. Relates to transmission-engine configuration.
That does not make sense (to me anyway) regarding the 'relates to transmission-engine configuration' comment. Lets see the 250GTO definitely has a gated shifter and yet it is a front mounted gearbox, just the same (er, similar as the GTO is a 5 speed versus a 4 speed) as a 250 GT 2+2. Thus is it a marketing thing and the 2+2's being for a more mature audience does not get this? Also I believe (but could be wrong) that a 275 GTB does not have the gated shifter and that has a rear mounted transmission similar to the Daytona who does have the gated shifter ... Pete ps: I wounder if you could add this feature? ... guess it could end up looking tacky
FWIW. The GTO transmission was very different from other to date...maybe that's why it got the gate...maybe it's marketing...I always thought there were technical reasons for the gate. The 275 GTB has the gated shifter. It is also the first use of a transaxle in a road car. Many/most of the competition models already had transaxles. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If there is a better C/4 in the World than the Gstaad car, it will be the red RHD example that is currently undergoing a total rebuild in England at the moment. Dark red with the check cloth interior. Should be ready for Summer... John
Very nice lines on the chopped roof by Virginia Classic. I'd love to see that in a black or dark blue.
The green one should be #16261, in recent years also for sale at Bonhams. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some engine parts need black crinkle paint (valve covers, air filter housing...). But it's a beautiful sight still!!
