James: I'm having a hard time finding a GOOD picture of a Fiat 850 with the European tail lights (red/amber), here is a current one from Ebay showing the all-red lenses for the USA market. I have an all-red one here on my desk from an 850 coupe that I parted out.

Lots of cars used the Fiat tail lights, it wasn't intended as a "put-down". But if they ARE Fiat lights, they aren't hard to come by and there is no reason to pay Ferrari prices for identical Fiat parts, right?

James: Interesting! Close, but not quite, huh? Thinking about it, I wonder if the P4 light is the same as the 250LM, which predates the Fiat 850 by a few years? Just goes to show, maybe you could have slapped on the wrong light if you were cutting corners, and maybe no one would have noticed. But you're doing it right. Good show!

By the way, sorry I got off the subject of wet sanding.

Once again, I hope that you plan on making an art exhibit with these pics. I just saw the NY Met modern art roadshow here in Houston and your P4 is prettier than anything done by those guys, particularly that Jason Pollack guy, Geeze Louise!

    Jim,

I know you posted before that you were not going to add numbers and the roundals, but I really hope you do.

This is just my opinion but she is a race car and even just the roundals would break up all the red ... and it would be real cool if you included the number lights they would have used (assumed) for Le Mans.

Heh it is your car ... but to me she will always be naked (er, maybe I should not have used that word with all the other talk going on :) ...).

Anyway I am envious of your position with the restoration, it is all fun from now on.

Great! I hoped you would leave the curves unsullied by roundels, etc. Kind of like Ashcroft putting Hula skirts on statues...moron.

Here is how Enzo/Pininfarina/Scaglietti intended it.
Pre-Goody's headache powder/PreparationH/Viagra clad billboards of today.

Curvy curves indeed, Jim! Bangle needs to be put in a room with this thing until he "gets" it. 8)

Hmmmm, it was designed as a race car ... thus always intended to have numbers ... ???

Anyway it is up to Jim :)

That's the shot that imprinted itself into my mind as well and what I'm going for with 2 minor differences. Even though I tracked down the # lights (You can see 3 of them on the door in that shot) I'm not going to mount them because when I tried them they caught your eye. In B&W they don't but in color they do. As I'm also going to drive her on the street on any given Sunday I'm also mounting "sebring" mirrors on the wings.
My friend and Mechanic Sal arrived at the paint shop today. I'll be there on Friday. Sal's seen a lot of things in his 30 years working for Alberto Pedretti. A lot of cars that have won a lot of races and a lot of awards.
(He restored my MK-IV) He's not a man who uses profanity but when he called me he said:" Jimmy it's fuc king unbelievable"
