Oh, I see! Yeah, I definitely agree. Even the old racers that probably had numbers at some point look much better with just the solid paint scheme IMHO. Especially if you aren't going to put on any number, the big, round, white circles spoil the integrity of the shape, especially since they often aren't symetrically positioned

Agree, Jim. B&W, they blend, but in color, they're zits on the Mona Lisa. Regulated zits, necessary at the time, but not part of the muse's plan.
Damn cars just bend time and space...I could stare at that thing and starve to death...the engine note runs in my head as I type this.

How a collection of parts can assimilate to something this beautiful, yet still be a superb racecar, without a computer in it's construction, is one of the most amazing accomplishments of Ferrari ever.

Sal is still prone to understatement, Jim. Absolutely.

Wish I could be there...I'm pretty good with block sanding ;)

Will need family photo of J and P together...different answers to same question.

    Enjoy
    Lee

    Pete:

Some cars look great with Roundels/numbers. Actually, the LM of your avatar does. But the P cars just transcend that. Beats me how, but they do. compare this pic and the shot from above, you'll see.

We still love ya, man :D

    Ditto Pete :)

In case anyone's curious the number lights are Lucas dashboard map lights from an MGA. They were also used for rear licence plate lights on MGA's although those have angled bases and the map lights have flat bases.

I've always thought a a pic of the 2 of them together with the words:
"If these two can live together in Peace whay can't we?"
would make a nice Xmas card.
