    Question - why don't you rebuild the existing engine, or is the damage too much. If it's just piston and valve overhaul it shouldn't be a problem?

    Regarding a replacement engine, I may be able to locate a secondhand US spec 308GTBi engine for about $1100

    my 78 308 euro dropped a valve about 8 years ago, forcing a rebuild. thats when i fitted the borgo pistons.

    Drop a Chevy crate motor in there. I think they have a 575 HP version now. What a rocket!

    I believe the Valve "Floated" and made contact with the piston. I was reving it around 8000-8200 rpm's. Blew Chunks of piston up through the weber and all into the intake air Filter housing.

    That's why you should always replace sodium-filled exhaust valves with solid items (steel or nimonic). It was an exhaust valve wasn't it?
