I think the pictures are a little big, but that's because my PSP is still not working properly. I got higher resolution, just drop a mail at [email protected]

There are of course the famous "Shell Oil" Allencourt cutaways of the P4, MK-IV, and Chaparall. Allencourt also built a full scale TR replica. THe Cutaways are the best I've ever seen. I used the P4 one for detail's in my P4 restoration. I don't have a scan.

Try "60 Vetture ai raggi X" by Giovanni Cavara, published in 1967.

IMHO still the standard work of ghost view drawings.

Rare and expensive (I paid over $ 200 for my copy some 10 years ago).

Features some 104 pages with ghost views.

Osca, Maserati, Lancia, Lamborghini, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, ATS, Abarth and of course Ferrari:

    AAC 815
    125 S (3 x)
    166 S (2 x)
    125 F1
    375 F1
    500 F2 (3 x)
    290 / 335 MM (3 x)
    Ferrari Lancia D50 (3 x)
    246 F1
    Dino 196 Sport
    250 GT Berlinetta
    156 F1 (V65 engine)
    156 F1 (V120 engine)
    330 GT 2+2 ( engine + car)
    250 GTO
    Dino 206 S
    1967 F1
330 P4 (that image was PROBABLY licensed to Shell for the poster (see Jim's post)

The ones that Dr. Bob posted are also by Cavara.

Boudewijn; Thank You. Shot #3 makes my day. My, oh, my.
I've had a plan for a multi-layered 1024x768 desktop image incorporating something along these lines... and there it is. Perhaps I'll do just that over the US Thanksgiving Holiday.

A little Vintage Mintage, if you will.

Mr. G. was referring to the great cutaway drawings done by James Allington and used in the Shell promotions. I found the ad for the P4 drawing in R&T 1/68, p.18-19. You could order the set of three drawings (Ferrari P4, Ford Mk.IV, and Chaparral 2F) on fine paper, without text, 25" x 19", for $1.00. That's right, no misprint, $1.00 !!!!!!

The two page ad is too big to fit my scanner, so I reduced it just to show what it looked like, you can't begin to appreciate the quality reduced like this and at 640 pixels. Why didn't I order a set?!

By the way, Mr. Allington's Testa Rossa wasn't a repro, it was the real thing (TR59 #0770).

    Hi
He did own 0770 and he also made an exact replica of the same car which he kept after he sold the real one. The replica recently came up for sale.
I have the three cutaways framed they are very special.

Well, I learned something new on that one. Apparently Mr. Allington's TR59 replica sold for 148,250 GBP at the Christie's auction in 12/02. Interesting!

Wasn't there something in the new software registration page that mentioned something about not posting copywritten material? Seems to me that every photo in this thread came from somebody else's copywritten material. I thought that was a NO NO.

As long as you credit the appropriate person ... there is no issue. Most do above ... some need to add the artist!

A friend of mine found the P4 ad mounted on the wall of a coworker at Shell Offshore here in Houston, together with a matching 1/43 car on a bracket.
He bartered for it, and brought it to me.
The next time I saw him, he brought me a matching ball cap from the same guy, from the same promo!

Napolis, any idea on copies of the full size cutaway?
We were going to scan and repair the ad copy to replicate one.
I think you need this ball cap.

Probably have to pay more than $1, these days.

"Fueled by Passion" on the front.
