I just drove that entire route on Monday (sunny day) and continued on across the Tacoma tide flats, the waterfront, to Point Defiance Park (5-mile drive loop, etc.) It's always a fun drive.

Not exactly “Seattle area”, but one of my favorite drives is highway 17 between Soap Lake and Dry Falls, and along Banks Lake on 155. Best times of year are when the weather turns nice before Memorial Day and again after Labor Day (when traffic is less).

It’s a great drive for one (or more) of those days that the weather on the west side is not all that great, but it’s clear east of the mountains (80% of the weekends). I take I-90 or the North Cascades Highway over and H2 back.

You know, it is just plain inhuman torture to be reading about all these great drives while being snowed in. Just ain't right... Argh!

If you are new to the area and don't always have a weekend free to pick up a drive witht he club, purchase Destination Highways (www.destinationhighways.com) and you will find a motorcyclists view of the best roads in the state. For the most part, they are spot on.

JMG, that is a very good resource. We used it extensively to plan our North Cascades Adventure last summer.

Pre-Memorial Day is a good time for you to trade a ride in your
Fcar for a guided Walleye Trip on Banks Lake!! Awesome Fishing,
and no better eating fish on Earth!! (Fresh or Saltwater).
My 13 year old Son will watch your Car while we Fish...
Of course, he'll probably get the ride because we rented
a 355 in Las Vegas in August 2002, neither of us has been the
same since.... Oooh, would he flip...
