Any Idea what this litle thing is for?

I'm hoping that it's some where to attatch a DAS/Datalogger
    But I doubt it.

It's located in the fuse box under the lefthand side of the hood on my
    Stradale.
The next pic should show the position a bit clearer.

But I thought the SD2/Diagnostic pinout is under the driver/passenger footwell ?

    Seems strange to have two?

Well since nobody seems to know... I'll volunteer a SWAG or two... for a CD Changer? Or for a Trickle Charger?

Yep, I agree with Brian. It's not any diagnostics. I think CD or luggage lamp, or some minor accessory.

all nice and tidy in my car (see picture)

only connector I can see in the wiring harness diagram that dangles around is called "Joint Pre-Set For Daytime Lights On Canada Version" – if this is the connector (three contacts): in Canada lights have to be always on and I assume that this is controlled by the connector

    Thanks Guys

I think we're getting close here.

It's definately not the trickle charger as thats under a screw down box on the otherside Near the battery cut out switch.
And the luggage lamp is already fitted.
My guess it's going to be the CD changer which I didin't bother going for.

    Thanks Alot

    Actually Thomas
You Maybe right it might be the Canadian Daytime light connection.
    It's certainly 3 Pin.

Anyway. It looks like it's going to be no use to me.

I was hopping for somewhere to plug a datalogger .

I guess it was never going to be that simple.

I've just ordered an upgrade of the DL90 it's a DL1 and should be coming towards the end of Feb.

    Thanks

Doesn't it just use the OBDII connector? I believe you can access that under the dash... in any case, it MUST be accessible somewhere.

DL1?? Hmmm... gotta go check that out... (I'm still trying to figure out what datalogger to install.)

    Sorry "OBDII connector" ?
Is that where they attatch the SD2 to check the ECU.
Yes it's is under the dash.
But excuse my ignorance but I didn't realize you could attatch any datalogger to it.

I was originally going go the DL90 just becuase you could plug it straight into the 12v/cigarlighter jack at least until I got used to using it. Plus I didn't to have to hard wire in something new at this stage.
(I think i'm being a bit over causious with a new car).

But when I went to order it they told me this new product was coming out in Feb. which would send the data to an in-car mini DV recorder.

Although this system was orginally suposed to be for my race car (Formula Vee).
I think I can easily swap them around.

Check out the web sites ( I have no afilliation)

Yes, OBDII gives you a standard connector and a standard "minimum" protocol that must be provided... anybody can build a device to use that protocol. On top of that, manufacturers can add whatever additional information they want for their own diagnostic tools... and most generic tools won't be able to use any of that... but given all new cars have OBDII, most generic dataloggers are supporting that as an input.

    Wow.

Now that should be a big help.
I should not need to buy any additional sensors as I expect the car already has them fitted.

So by plugging in my data logger a can just pick up all that info and transfer it on to my PC as long as I have the software to make sense of it all.

And as the system works off GPS rather than a static beacon I can just plug and go.

    This all sounds to easy.

Sweeeet!!! Its my dream data logger, I think!
And it does have the OBDII connection option.

They have new info coming out first week of Feb
and then the unit that I want will be shipping in
March... just in time for my car, perhaps!

    Damned expensive, though.

    Thanks for pointing it out!

but make sure that the OBDII connection works with the 360 - make them commit that they fix incompatibilities

there is a thread about the OBDII error codes and Scanners that work on the other F forum

furthermore plan on have the connector relocated - it is in a very stupid position
