Maybe yet another interpretation for the procedure? (after 17m 24s) [MEDIA]
Yes, tensioner nut loose in photo. Regarding tightening, guess the QV bulletin was for QVs only ...think I'll try again with the original 1...
Fair question but no ...cam caps were in place & likely checked/ re-tightened by my mech. 2 years ago, engine running v. well up until first event...
Makes sense ...will renew the tensioner spring first in any case. Again, neither drive sprocket or tensioner bearing have any 'play', so I doubt...
Thanks Steve, will look closer... once the nut is tight though, I assume the the belt should feel consistently tensioned when hand turning the engine?
Thanks, although the Bulletin refers to 4 valve engine, but would make sense on 2 valve as well right? I'll certainly replace belt & tensioner...
Thanks for the fast responses... New belts 2 years ago... correct belts & sprockets as far as I know (I trusted my mechanic as much as I could...
My situation... rear bank belt skipped about 4 teeth over intake cam sprocket ...fixed then happened again. First time: engine at PM 1-4 & cam...
Thanks guys, yes I did mean 15! Will try to find the Bulletin, etc...
My rear bank: 15psi all cylinders, front bank: most 170. 77 gtb No obvious problem while turning engine. Belt must have jumped... any suggestions...
It ran great then suddenly it didn't (I had just driven a short distance then was idling, problem began when I tried to rev the motor a little)....
My slow-motion investigation into my poorly running engine continues... Front bank seems to be the problem due to fuel/air mix spitting back from...
Thanks, understood ...sounds like the right course of action. I'll look into this deeper ... Ferrari shops v. scarce around here though!
Cam timing off makes sense to me for the symptoms, as do your other suggestions ...some new territory for me but I need to learn. Took it for...
Thanks again, much appreciated. I'll see what I can do, not so experienced with this. Got Pertronix units which I'm not sure are working...
Could be a dumb question, but I want to remove the 1-4 distributor ('77 GTB) ...as long as everything is carefully marked for re-installation, is...
Great to hear! ...and good to know.
+1 ....Just drained fuel & rebuilt carb tops on my '77 (was flooding, think due to old gas clogging float valves)... will try to re-start soon....
Plugs are wet & black. (at least the rear bank) Ran the motor (1500-2500 rpm) with air box lid off... fuel appears to spew out from rear 2 carbs....
Really appreciate all the advice, didn't realize the choke could be corroded by current; in any case if it starts fine without... I will check...
