At first glance, in the second photo, it looked like someone grey primered over the rear clam. Took a second to see the tree branches. Looks great!

Just ask any body shop, and they'll explain the same technique I described. Google it There's no secret.
Simply wad up a ball of masking tape and scrub the area effected with tape remnants and residue. This will leave the area beneath perfectly clean....
