There should be a metal tab at the bottom of the fuel filler flap you can hook the gas cap onto. They don't need to dangle.

I leave mine in 'Race' all the time to reduce clutch wear. I also prefer the throttle response and suspension stiffness in that mode.

Are you sure you want the 458 replacement? It's likely to be a reduced cylinder count turbo engine.
