Hello, now that my 412 is running fantastically, I have noticed my radiator fans are inoperative. Upon inspection, I noticed my radiator fan...
Ignition coil.
You guessed it - was running with only one coil connected.
You basically guessed it - the coil on one bank was not connected! What is incredible is that with a V12 the engine still starts and runs...
UPDATE: I've discovered the issue! A special thanks to the 400/412 community, in particular Raemin, Brian, Sam and Espen. Try to guess what is...
UPDATE: I've discovered the issue, you will never guess what it was!
UPDATE: I've discovered the issue!!!
Hello, I am trying to diagnose the cause of low vacuum/low power on my Ferrari 412 engine. i just did a compression test and have 155 to 165...
Compression readings from the driver's side : Cylinder 12 - 165 PSI 11 - 160 10 - 160 9 - 160 8 - 155 7 - 160
There is something that is confusing me...is it even possible to have good/high compression and low vacuum? Will measure compression on all 12...
I replaced mine in my 412 from 1987 - the only way to really know is to sacrifice one and cut it open - that is what I did.
The tension on the chain is up to spec - very hard. I measured it as per the manual.
It seems I'm back to timing... Does anyone have vacuum values?
It is significantly more than just "tame" - it takes around 25 seconds to reach 80 km/h - according to my app that estimates power with...
The question is by how much does timing have to be off for it to affect vacuum this much? Is it possible that the assembly marks were wrong? I...
My engine starts and runs, it just has very little to no power.
Next would be to measure how much vacuum the engine is "pulling" - does anyone have any values?
Control pressure was measured with the engine warm, and with the engine running and off (with the pump running). In all cases it was around 3 BAR...
I guess I am back to square one - namely timing. The flywheels has two PM 1-6, but I doubt I am off by 180 degrees....
Yes, I this exact test and calibrated each port to flow exactly the same - much better than factory spec :) I am flowing exactly 160ccm3 per min...
