Maybe Cavallino Models will come up with one. There are plenty of 1/18 Enzos around to start off. I would certainly buy one.

Haha, thanks Andreas. I thought of this based on our discussion in the other thread.

Perhaps we can summon the great Dino Scuderia into action? Not that I'd be able to buy it, but it needs to be created.

It is rare that concept cars are being turned into models. Heck there are many common Ferraris that don't receive that honor.

The Mythos is a lucky exception. The car was very popular thanks to Moroder. I saw it as it debuted in Geneva.

Cavallino made the Rosso into a 1/18 model (which I bought). So there is some hope they might tackle this one too.

Modulo never made it much further than Matchbox scale. The real car had a similar unpleasant fate.

Now somebody tell me with a straight face that this isn't simply the coolest car they have ever seen.

Words fail me. This car is so beyond cool. Dunno what to say.

Actually thinking about it, maybe "cool" is not the right word, given that gigantic glass house...
    :)

PS: Did anybody here ever watch the British series from the early seventies called U.F.O.? The commander Ed Striker had a golden car, that looked a bit like the Modulo. Childhood memories. :)

I think I read in Top Gear that a few people who have driven the Birdcage absolutely hated it. They cited the noise, seating position, even feel of the car was nothing but terrible. Obviously there will be flaws in prototypes and mock ups, but they claimed how the roof/door design itself was flawed and would probably cause some serious Delorean type problems in the future if it wasn't being repaired or jammed shut already. Im certain these thoughts and comments were in some Brit mag last month, either Top Gear or Car, and by more than one author.

The Mythos did achieve some fame in other forms. I remember it being featured in two video games. One off hand was a PC game Test Drive III I think. This is going way back but that game was quite fun and it also featured other one off cars such as an Indy Inspired Vette that had a top speed near 240? It was in another PC game but I just don't remember it.

I am surprised anyone liked the Mudolo. Everyone has their own tastes but that car resembled nothing curvy and sexy like what Ferrari is known for. I guess it being the 70s maybe they saw the Star Wars hysteria in the near future as this thing looks like something similar or should have been the car that drives off into space like in the flick, "The Last Starfighter."

Well a concept car doesn't have the luxury of a full development cycle (whatever that means particularly in Ferrari terms). Most concept cars you see in car shows have been pushed or placed there, so it speaks for the NEW Birdcage that it even drives under its own power.

Well, the whole point about the Modulo was that it didn't have the curvy forms, which everybody used in the sixties. It was a design breakthrough to NOT have those forms. So in a sense it is the grand father of the 308 GT4 and 365 2+2 wedges that followed in the early seventies. Or the Countach for that matter.

Regardless the car to me simply looks ultra hot. I think it looks awesome in today's standards and that's over 30 years later. It must have been a revolution back then.

I agree, it's been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I was thrilled to see her in the flesh. Amazingly modern, yet in a very 1960s way, not unlike the old Star Trek TV show. Also, I can't help but think the designers at Pinninfarina had the Modulo in mind when they created the new Birdcage, there are some similarities.

Here's a few more from the same occasion:

    http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/690/untitled212mi.jpg (UFO indeed!)

(excuse the big pics, I was too lazy to resize)

Rocket, interesting info, but it doesn't surprise me. Many, if not most concepts don't run or even turn a wheel (*cough*Modulo ;) so you can't expect much, like Tifosi said, the fact that it runs at all says quite alot.

I just think it is drop-dead stunning and would love to feature its shape on my coffee table. You must agree, she's perfect for that. :) Cheers.

    Yeah, sadly she never run.

I always wondered why there were 24 of those black dots/holes? As a child I thought it was a V-24, but I think they're just for show and the car underneath is a "regular" V-12 Ferrari.

Wouldn't that make for a great kit car? Take a beater TR and put this kind of body over it. After you incorporated the A/C from a Lexus. :)

Did you ever see how the cabin opens? Straight forward. Right out of a Sci-Fi flick.

Yes, very cool, and one of the similarites to the Birdcage IMO. Notice the NACA ducts under the nose and the little front lip. I never knew about those until they will revealed by my amazing photography skills.

Awesome shots and what an event you were at! Unbelievable! All the so hard to find one offs in one place, lucky you!

The poor Boxer looks like a regular old car next to the Modulo.

That yellow car is just begging to be built as a production car. What gorgeous lines. It's what you would get if you crossbred a Dino 246 to a 330P4. I love it!

The Birdcage is built on a full MCC Race chassis. One jorno who tried to drive it couldn't even get rolling without stalling. Race cars are a breed to their own. PF is doing a VERY limited run (3) of road going/legal Birdcages built on MC 12 Street chassis which will be fully sorted and very special. They will be very drivable. The glass top works fine and isn't a problem. If you want they will also make it with conventional doors with seams so fine it will look the same. If anyone is seriously interested PM me.

We had an opportunity to see the Birdcage 75 "up close and personal" before it left the US and went to FRA for the recent auto show. Awesome vehicle.
