Curious if anyone knows any way to find out if a car originally had the boxer trim. Like if its in the paint code, or some other way. I contacted Ferrari but they didnt know. If I work at making the car decent and making it somewhat original, it would be nice to have the correct paint scheme. Unless it dont matter, in which case I may just do it. I never liked it as a kid, but now when I look at them it looks hot.

I have a 75 308gt4 and it has the boxer trim (looks killer IMHO) and it is original. I'd look on the paint code for you but I don't know where to look for this code on the car...perhaps someone here does. Blaine

Not that this will help but I have an '86 328 with Boxer trim. My paint sticker says Rosso Corsa. I called the dealer that sold the car new and they confirmed it was factory original Boxer trim. You can probably request the Heritage certificate from Ferrari and they should be able to tell you if the Boxer trim was original.

It doesn't show on the paperwork.....nor at the factory site in My Garage..

    Paul,

Our 1977 records have been consolidated at Algar, for North American sales, maybe Ron Tonkin Gt Cars excepted........with the original date of sale and the dealer they stand "a chance" of coming up with the original import paperwork.....

If you ask the right person you may retrieve info from the 'dusty boxes upstairs"............

It might be easier to sand down thru the layers looking for it.........HTH

That's a very late one, Duane, as it kind of fell from favor once the TR was introduced........even most late Boxers used the "delete" option to be single color....

Mine is still intact on the deck lid of 21645. Rosso Chiaro. But the car has been repainted, so whatever was no longer is. Could be black under that lower portion, but if its not, it still wouldnt mean it wasnt.

Question regarding front valance. 21181 from March 77 is steel, 21645 in May is fiberglass. Anyone know which is correct?

Hey Bubba, are you saying Algar has "all" the early records for US import?

Yep.......anything into North America...Chinetti's files..but apparently by year or dealer.....

No way to know on the valances...

#22127 has a glass one with an integral steel nerf bar!
#22641 has a three piece steel unit, but came with a spare deep glass one as well...

I'm not saying complete.......and I imagine a HUGE jumble of paper!

Check with the Parts Department or I'll report how my search goes, it's underway now, ahead of you..........

Thankfully I had the Warranty Service book on mine so knew date of sale and dealer..

#22641 sat 3 years unsold, so you see how far in the files that one would be misplaced, based upon year alone.....and most likely Ron Tonkin retains that one.

I'll post pics of whatever comes up on my efforts........

Knowing the tales of Mr. Chinetti, there are most likely "gaps" in some records.............;)

Yes, I know it is pretty late model for the Boxer trim. It was sold new out of Algar and was a one-owner car until Sport Auto picked it up and I bought it from them. I was looking for the best car I could find (328/348/TR) but the color wasn't important to me. Now that I've had it for awhile I like the Boxer trim.

3rd time lucky... (due to the great fchat db restore)

Joel D posted that he had a 328 in boxer paint scheme.. Joel, can you post any photos? Its an unusual paint scheme on a 328 and it would be interesting to see it!

    cheers,
    Greg

Is that your 308? That's the best looking white Ferrari I've ever seen. Talk about a great car for formal occasions...Killer.
