There's a huge difference in a car the value of a car that did well in a major race and one that didn't. This also raised other questions about how much of the car was original and how much wasn't. Doug Nye knows the whole story and I believe is the person who raised the questions.
I understand the value of a race pedigree among cars when there are a good number made (even among the 36 GTOs), I just wondered how much of a difference it made with a car of this rarity. My though was that the concerns about the car went deeper. If Mr Nye had questions I bet there were some legitimate concerns. Someday we'll hear "The rest of the story". Thanks.
Yeah from what i have heard from different sources, is the race history issue. however, since this is the only one that will be up for sale (i believe there are two and audi has the other one) shouldn't it still command huge sums of money?

1. My car is not an Enzo. 2. It's a 612 P 4/5 as it's plate says. 3. As I live in NY and we can get Custom plates for $45 I'm not sure that a UK plate would be of much use.
Jim, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while... This quote taken from the very first page of this thread: Are you referring to the then un-born California or your acquisition of the little yellow one? Best regards, Paul
Polycarbonate. The particular blend used on the hatch of your car was formulated for heat resistance. What you have is a blend of old stuff. Not to burst your bubble, but the stuff forming the canopy on the F-22 in no way resembles what is covering your engine. There are lots and lots of polycarbonites out there, from eye glass quality to something that can withstand sustained +mach without any iota of deformation. But to think that the materials used on the rear hatch of your car is in any way = anything used on a modern day aircraft gives me pause. Modern poly carbonates alone would have trebled the cost of your car, and this just for a few areas, with all of those areas being secret. But yeah, it sounds cool to state that your car has the same tech as a fighter jet. On the flip side, I can't go down to NAPA and get the same stuff that your hatch has, so maybe that's pretty cool.
The company that made it also makes Jet Canopies and said they used the same Mil Spec. materials. It's speed rated to VMAX of the car which is 233 MPH can take enormous aerodynamic forces including massive engine heat on one side, air flow on both sides, up to 1000 lbs of down-force at 160 MPH on the outside, is totally distortion free and hasn't scratched yet including many high speed laps on the sandy Bahrain F1 circuit. As for cost I'm not sure NAPA caries items that cost 30K Euros.
